Former England international Andros Townsend is currently training with Burnley as a free agent after his contract with Everton came to an end.

The 31-year-old winger, who has represented England 13 times, missed the entire previous season due to a knee injury. Townsend's last appearance in a competitive match was back in March 2022.

Townsend's presence in Burnley's training sessions could potentially lead to a contract offer from manager Vincent Kompany, especially after the team's successful promotion to the Premier League as the Championship title winners last season.

In addition to Townsend's trial, Burnley is making progress in securing a season-long loan deal for Soumaila Coulibaly, the Borussia Dortmund defender. Coulibaly is set to undergo a medical with the club on Monday.

Furthermore, Burnley is expected to finalize the signing of James Trafford, the England Under-21 international goalkeeper. The club has reportedly agreed on a £15 million deal with Manchester City for Trafford's transfer.
