The Edo state government has reduced work days in the civil service to three in order to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy on civil servants.
In a statement, Governor Godwin Obaseki said his government shared the pains of the people and assured that his administration will stand with them “in these very challenging times”.
Obaseki also said his administration would do all within its power to ameliorate the sufferings of residents.
He noted that the state has taken steps to increase the minimum wage of workers from the approved N30,000 to N40,000.
That would be the highest in the country today.
The statement also said the Edo Subeb will provide details on this initiative in the coming days.
