Julius Agwu, a popular Nigerian comedian, has weighed in on the ongoing feud between two of his colleagues, AY and Basketmouth.
The two comedians, who are well-known in the Nigerian entertainment industry, have been at odds for over a year now, allegedly due to a disagreement over a ₦30,000 gig, as revealed by AY during an interview with Chude Jideonwo.
During a recent interview with Naija FM, Agwu offered his perspective on the matter and suggested that there could be underlying factors at play beyond just the monetary dispute.
He said, ''I don't think it's just the N30, 000. Maybe there is more. Na we dey back stage. We nor go fit know. Maybe there is something else that is making them angry and they have both carried in their minds that is causing dem quarrel.''
He recounted his own experience with AY, recalling how he had called AY to request a rescheduling of his yearly Easter Sunday comedy show because it coincided with his own event on the same day. However, according to Julius Agwu, AY refused and hung up on him.
''Laugh for Christ sake was every Easter Sunday before AY began to do promo saying he was doing one show. I called AY telling him that day is my day, he cut the call on my neck,"Â he added.
The beef between AY and Basketmouth has been characterised by conflicting claims and accusations, with AY alleging that Basketmouth owed him money and Basketmouth denying any friendship with AY and calling some of AY's claims lies.
Julius Agwu's comments shed further light on the situation and suggest that there may be deeper issues at play beyond just the ₦30,000 incident.
