January 11, 2023 American Rapper Meek Mill Apologizes For Shooting Music Video Inside Ghana’s Presidential Villa

Meek Mill, an American rapper, was widely chastised on social media when excerpts from his newly released video incorporated images of Ghana's presidential house.

Meek Mill spent half of December in Ghana, where he performed at the Afronation festival.

It was time for the American rapper to reconnect with his African origins, a wish he had previously expressed on Twitter.

During his tour to Ghana, Meek Mill went to the presidential palace and met with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo. Meek Mill captured several shots inside the presidential palace during his visit, which were included in his promotional video.

Ghanaians were outraged by the footage and expressed their disgust on Twitter, calling his behavior rude.

Meek Mill took to Twitter to apologize to the people of Ghana for whatever annoyance his actions may have caused. His behavior, he claims, was motivated by a desire to embrace culture.

"My apologies to the people if any disrespect! We still gonna push to make the connection between black people in America and Africa … what I’m trying to do is more than a video and you should see coming soon! My apologies to the office also!" The tweets read.

Meek Mill also deleted the video and explained that he hopes to continue uniting African Americans and Africans through his music.
