October 27, 2022 Bayelsa Resident Decries Pitiable Effect Of Flood In State Says Bag Of Rice Sells For 80,000

As flood continues to ravage the length and breadth of Nigeria, one of the states that is badly hit by the ravaging flood with many homes submerged and thousands of people rendered homeless is Bayelsa State.

Among the worst affected areas in the state are: Biseni, Tombia-Ekpetiama, Tombia-Amassoma Road, Akenfa, Akenpai, Igbogene and Swali, all in Yenagoa Local Government Area, as well as Kaiama, Odi, Otuoke, and Ogbia communities.

A resident of the state who spoke to Inspiration FM, Isaac moore Agraka, described the situation as disturbing, saying people are now living in very pathetic and helpless condition.

However, the Federal Government says it has distributed relief items to 21 states affected by floods, noting that over one million persons have been internally displaced, with approximately 2,776 persons injured, while 612 persons have lost their lives due to the devastating effects of the floods across the country.
