Manchester United have signed Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez on a five-year contract for £56.7 million.
United paid a guaranteed €57.37 million (£48.3 million) for the Argentina international, with an additional €10 million (£8.4 million) in add-ons agreed upon between the two clubs. Martinez will reunite at Old Trafford with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, who signed him for the club in 2019.
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract in Manchester, with the option of extending it for another year, taking him past his 30th birthday.
"It's an honor to join this great football club," Martinez said. "I worked so hard to get to this moment and now that I'm here, I'm going to push myself even further."
"I've been lucky enough to be part of successful teams in my career and that's what I want to continue at Manchester United. There will be a lot of work to get to that moment, but I firmly believe that under this manager and coaches, and together with my new teammates, we can do it.
"I want to thank Ajax and their fans for all the support they gave me. I had an unbelievable time there but feel the moment is right to test myself in another environment. Now I am at the perfect club to do that."
Lisandro Martinez arrived at United's Carrington training facility on Tuesday, along with Christian Eriksen, who joined on a free transfer earlier this month.
