The Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon face off today in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, for a place in the semifinals and an automatic Women's World Cup qualifying spot.
The two teams will renew their rivalry for a place in the semi-finals at Casablanca's Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco.
It's a matchup between the tournament's most prolific team and the team with the most solid defensive record thus far.
Both teams last met in the 2018 edition's semi-finals, with a penalty shootout separating them. Nigeria went on to win the tournament after another penalty shootout victory over South Africa in Ghana.
The Falcons are the most successful team at the WAFCON, with the most titles (9) and most victories (53), with Cameroon losing three of the times the Falcons won (2004, 2014, and 2016).
