Twenty-four of the thirty-two members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have begun the process of impeaching the deputy governor of the state, Rauf Olaniyan.
During a plenary meeting presided over by Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, the lawmakers started the procedure.
The State House of Assembly clerk, Yetunde Awe, read the order paper aloud.
The deputy governor was accused of grave misbehavior, misuse of authority, financial irresponsibility, abandonment of office, official duty, and insubordination, among other offenses, by the twenty-four parliamentarians in their petition.
They stated that Olaniyan would be impeached if he didn't reply to the accusations.
Following irreconcilable differences with Governor Seyi Makinde, Olaniyan declared his resignation from the PDP to the APC.
