The Nigeria Police have distanced itself from claim in some quarters that it carried out the raid on the Abuja residence of Chief EDWIN CLARK.
Force spokesman, MOSHOOD JIMOH in a statement said the Inspector General of Police is not aware and did not order the raid of the residence of the Elder Statesman, Chief EDWIN CLARK.
He said the Inspector General of Police has directed the detention and investigation of the four Policemen and the informant involved in the exercise.
The policemen were reportedly led by the STS Commander, YUSUF KOLO, a Deputy Commissioner of Police.
According to him, the Inspector General of Police has apologised to the elder statesman over the unauthorised raid.
He noted that the IG had sent a delegation, led by a DIG HABILA JOSHAK and some commissioners to convey his apology to EDWIN CLARK.
Information filtered in that the policemen who stormed the home of Chief CLARK were in search of arms and ammunition.
