Kano State governor, ABDULLAHI GANDUJE, has suggested that there should be a law banning the movement of cattle from the north to the south.
He disclosed this to journalists after he and other All Progressives Congress governors met with President BUHARI in Daura, Katsina State.
GANDUJE said his administration is already constructing a settlement for herders in a forest near the state’s border with Katsina.
He also spoke about what he expects from the newly appointed service chiefs.
“My advocacy is that we should abolish the transportation or trekking of herdsmen from the Northern part of Nigeria to the Middle Belt and to the Southern part of Nigeria.
“There should be a law that will ban, otherwise we cannot control the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers and cannot control the cattle rustling which is affecting us greatly,” He said.
