At least four persons have died while 14 others sustained injuries in an accident involving a Mazda bus and a truck at Lufwape on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Sunday.
Umar said the incident occurred around 3:40pm and was caused by the driver of the truck, adding that the accident was as a result of excessive speed and dangerous driving on the part of the truck driver.
According to Umar, 20 people were involved in the accident comprising 12 male and eight female, with eight male and six female sustaining injuries while two male and two female died in the crash.
"The truck driver drove dangerously, which made the Mazda bus to lose control due to speed and crashed on the highway. But unfortunately the truck escaped," said Umar.
He said the injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital, Sagamu for treatment while the deceased were deposited at the same hospital mortuary.
Umar warned motorists on dangerous driving and that life had no duplicate.
He urged the motoring public to drive defensively, maintain safe speed and obey traffic rules and regulations.
