FCT High Court Sacks Governor Ganduje-Led Apc Exco In Kano, Upholds Shekarau’s Faction

An FCT High Court has sacked the All Progressives Congress Exco loyal to the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Delivering a ruling on the reliefs sought by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Justice Hamza Muazu, granted all the reliefs sought.

The Shekarau faction is seeking a declaration that the Ganduje-led group did not conduct ward and local government congresses.

Recall that parallel congresses were held in Kano, with Abdullahi Abbas emerging as Chairman of the Ganduje-led group and Ahmadu Zago emerging Chairman of the Shekarau-led group.

Malami Begins Probe Into Reported Fraudulent Sale Of Recovered Assets

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has set up a panel to probe alleged fraudulent sale of recovered assets of the federal government.

Mr. Malami said the federal government was yet to commence sale of its recovered looted assets.

In a press statement, Mr. Malami’s spokesperson, Umar Gwandu, acknowledged a media report, claiming that a “syndicate allegedly from the ministry sells federal government’s recovered properties without the knowledge of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.”

Gwandu also said the AGF neither approved nor ordered the sale of any property.

Federal Lawmaker Raises Alarm That Bandits May Destroy Super Tucano Jets In Niger State

A member representing Agwara/Borgu Federal Constituency, Jafaru Muhammad has raised the alarm that the Super Tucano fighter jets stationed at the 407 Air Weapon Training School, New Bussa, are exposed to the risk of getting attacked by bandits.

He said this while moving a motion at plenary on Tuesday.

Presenting the motion, he called on the federal government to address banditry in communities in his constituency, which he said share proximity with where the air assets are located.

Muhammad said some insurgents incarcerated in correctional centers in 221 and 101 battalions poses great risk to public safety, lives and properties in the areas within the Constituency.

20 Die As Boat Carrying 47 Pupils Capsizes In Kano

Twenty bodies have been recovered, seven rescued alive while many others are still missing following a boat mishap in Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State on Tuesday night.

The boat, with 47 passengers on board, reportedly capsized while ferrying some adults and pupils of Madinatu Islamiyya School from Badau village heading to Bagwai to participate in Maulud celebration marking the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

The spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Malam Saminu Abdullahi, while confirming the accident at about 9:15pm, said 20 bodies had been recovered while the rescue operation was ongoing.

He said only seven persons were rescued alive while the remains of those that died had been deposited in a hospital.
