EFCC Files Charges Against Minimah, Others over N13bn Arms Deal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed criminal charges against a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah (rtd), over alleged diversion of N13bn arms procurement funds.

The charges before the Federal Capital Territory High Court also has as defendants, former Chief of Accounts and Budget of the Nigerian Army, Gen. A. O. Adetayo and a former Director, Finance and Accounts of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier Gen. R. I. Odi.

The EFCC, in processes filed in court, stated it had, on August 15, 2016, received a report by the Committee on the Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Nigerian Armed Forces from 2007- 2015, chaired by AVM Jon Ode (rtd).

Nigerian singer Harrysong and his wife, Alexer Peres have welcomed a baby girl.

The singer announced the development on Thursday via his Instagram page, naming her “Daviva”

The happy father posted a video showing the newborn and her mum.

He promised the release of a new song to celebrate the new addition.

As a caption for his post, Harrysong wrote; “And just this morning in the very cold winter season in Malta, my woman delivered my beautiful bundle of blessing.

“My princess is here, she’s called DAVIVA. Welcome to my world of love, Hard work, peace, money, fame and grace. I guess she knows right?

“I’m the happiest and most blessed man this year 2021. And midnight…Tonight …we crown this celebration with the release of she knows ft Fireboy and Olamide ooooh what a year” he concluded.

The couple are parents to a set of twins, Perez and Tare, that they welcomed in 2017.

President Buhari Condemns Sokoto Bus Attack

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has expressed sadness over the gruesome murder of travellers by bandits at Isa local government area of the state.

Bandits had on Tuesday ambushed the travellers who were migrating to other parts of the country due to the activities of the bandits and Boko Haram insurgents and opened fire on them.

Initial reports said 42 persons were burnt to death and several others injured by the bandits.

But the State Commissioner of Police, KAMALUDEEN OKUNOLA, confirmed that 23 people were killed in the attack.

The President, who reacted to the incident in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, FEMI ADESINA, vowed that the perpetrators of the attack would not go unpunished.

Governor Sanwolu Describes Death Of Students In Lagos Accident As Devastating: Orders Closure Of Ojodu School

Lagos State Governor, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, on Wednesday described the death of some students of Ojodu Grammar School in the Isheri area of the state as devastating.

A truck had on Tuesday crushed some students to death and injured several others after they closed from school.

The state government had ordered the immediate closure of all schools affected by the accident till January.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. GBOYEGA AKOSILE, the governor expressed sadness over the incident and described the death of the students as sad, unfortunate, and avoidable.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI also commiserated with parents, relations and friends of Ojodu Grammar School over the sad and painful loss of the promising lives that were cut short in the tragic incident.
