Four More EPL Games Postponed Over Covid Outbreak In England

After four additional games were postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks, half of the weekend's Premier League matchups are now cancelled.

Southampton against Brentford, Watford v Crystal Palace, West Ham v Norwich, and Everton v Leicester are the most recent games to be disrupted.

Manchester United's match against Brighton on Saturday was called off earlier on Thursday, as was Leicester City's match against Tottenham on Thursday, both of which were part of the league's midweek schedule.

Fabinho, Curtis Jones, and Virgil van Dijk all missed Liverpool's match against Newcastle on Thursday due to suspected positive tests, though manager Jurgen Klopp stated that the team did not request a postponement.

If a club with a Covid outbreak has fewer than 14 players available, including one goalkeeper, the game will be postponed; however, the Premier League board will consider factors such as whether the training ground is closed, whether players can prepare properly, and whether or not the outbreak is under control when making case-by-case decisions.

Despite four Chelsea players recording positive tests- Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and the injured Ben Chilwell - Thursday's other match between Chelsea and Everton went ahead.

Everton Condemn Homophobic Chant Aimed At Chelsea Player

Everton have slammed a homophobic chant geared at a Chelsea player during Thursday's match.

The Premier League game finished in a 1-1 draw at At Stamford Bridge.

Everton released a statement saying, "Such behaviour is unacceptable and does not represent the values of our club or wider fanbase,"

Last month, the Toffees were recognized for their efforts to foster an inclusive culture within the club and throughout the Everton community.

Everton continued, "Through our 'All Together Now' campaign, we promote and celebrate diversity and inclusivity within our club, our football, and our community.

"In the future, we expect fans to represent those principles by refraining from discriminatory shouting."

Salah Impresses As Liverpool Defeat Newcastle

Mohamed Salah scored his 22nd goal of the season as Liverpool claimed a hard-fought win over Newcastle, Liverpool reduced the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp's team fell behind early on to their struggling opponents as Jonjo Shelvey scored against his previous club following a rapid break, despite the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho due to suspected positive coronavirus tests.

Liverpool, on the other hand, took command after scoring two goals in the span of four minutes.

Diogo Jota's equalizer was controversial since it came while Isaac Hayden was down in the six-yard box with a head injury, but the Portuguese took advantage of the situation by tucking in on the rebound after Martin Dubravka's first save.

Shelvey then undid his good start by passing to Sadio Mane, who forced another save from Dubravka before Salah scored.

Salah equalled Jamie Vardy's record of scoring or assisting in 15 consecutive Premier League games with his goal, but Allan Saint-Maximin squandered an opportunity when he was denied by Alisson.

After the break, Eddie Howe's side improved as the hosts relaxed and went near via Jacob Murphy and Shelvey, but Trent Alexander-late Arnold's effort from 25 yards finished the game as a contest, and Liverpool now trail City by a point.

Newcastle are currently 19th in the table, three points off safety and their mission of avoiding relegation will not be made any easier when they face league leaders Pep Guardiola's side on Sunday.
