A tragedy struck at Alatise Beach in Lagos State's Ajah area as 13-year-old Kelvin Onyengba drowned during a hangout. The incident, which occurred around noon on Tuesday, saw Kelvin swimming with five friends.
According to a police source, the heartbreaking event unfolded on February 27, with Kelvin losing his life to the powerful waves of the sea. His mother recounted how the water's force swept her son away while he was out enjoying the day with friends, never to return to his parents.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin stated that detectives from the area had visited the scene. The family of the deceased anxiously awaited Kelvin's body to be recovered from the sea.

This tragic occurrence brings to mind another incident involving a Lagos-based prophet, Oriyomi Remilekun, who reportedly drowned during a beach hangout in Ajah while celebrating Valentine's Day. Oriyomi had led youths from his white garment church to Avista Beach on February 17 for a day of commemoration. However, the festivities took a devastating turn when Oriyomi went missing, ending the picnic on a somber note.
