Eleven persons have been confirmed killed in another boat accident yesterday in Adamawa State.
This is barely two days after the state government mourned the deaths of scores who died in the Benue River.
The latest boat crash happened at Gurin village, in the Fufore Local Government Area.
Residents said about 40 passengers crammed into the boat to get home before the heavy downpour, but midway, strong winds and a thunderstorm set in, causing the boat to capsize.
Still on boat accidents, but this time in Niger, the State Emergency Management Agency (N-SEMA) has said the death toll from Sunday’s boat mishap in Mokwa local government area has risen to 30.
NSEMA’s acting Director General, Garba Salihu, said the number kept increasing during the rescue operation in the Gbajibo area where the incident occurred.
Salihu said 27 deceased were women, while three were male children.
