Youth-Led Protest In Yobe: Addressing The Surge In Rape, Kidnapping, And More In Northern Nigeria

In response to the escalating cases of rape, kidnapping, and declining education standards in Northern Nigeria, a group of passionate youths from Potiskum town, Yobe State, have organized a peaceful demonstration urging authorities to take decisive action.

Comrade Aliyu Haruna, the group leader, conveyed their purpose for the protest while addressing the press. He emphasized that they aimed to draw attention and prompt the relevant authorities to address these pressing social issues.

Haruna stated, “We simply embarked on this peaceful protest because of the deteriorating level of education in the North, as well as security gaps where young, innocent and poor girls are being raped and left helpless.”

During the protest, participants prominently displayed placards bearing powerful messages, including: ‘Stop Killing #Brothers and Sisters in the North’; ‘End Kidnapping, Raping’; and ‘Bring Back our Girls’. This visual representation encapsulated the urgency and gravity of the situation they were protesting against.

Nigerian Air Force Confirms It’s Jet Bombed Civilians In Yobe State

The Nigerian Air Force has admitted that one of its fighter jets on a mission against terrorists, “unfortunately” bombed civilians in Yobe State on Wednesday.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Edward Gabkwet, said this in a statement made available to reporters today, adding that a probe into the incident had been launched.

Inspiration FM recalls that the Air Force spokesman had initially rebutted reports linking one of its fighter jets to the bombing., maintaining that NAF's last mission in Yobe State was held earlier this month.

 But in a statement today, Gabkwet backtracked, saying that, "the initial (Press) release denying the involvement of NAF aircraft was based on the first report available at the time.

 Accordingly, the pilot fired some probing shots. It is important to state that the area is well known for continuous Boko Haram/ISWAP activities.

“Unfortunately, reports reaching Nigerian Air Force Headquarters alleged that some civilians were erroneously killed while others were injured".

Boko Haram Attack In Gubja Community In Yobe State Claims Three Lives

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have again launched fresh attack on Gubja community in Damaturu the state capital.

According to reports, the attackers stormed the community in a van and drove straight to a construction company, 40 kilometers from Gubja community Mutai road.

The insurgents killed two mobile police officers, one Nigeria Security Civil Defence corps, before burning down the heavy-duty machines on the site.

Security authorities are yet to confirm the attack but residents said that the attackers stayed on the scene for hours unconfronted before returning to the bush.
