Petrol Souvenir: Police Arrest, Arraign Main Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and charged the main suspect in connection with the distribution of
kegs of fuel as souvenirs at party held on March 4, 2022 at the Havilah Events Centre in Victoria Island.

This was revealed in statement issued by CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, on Tuesday.

According to Ajisebutu, the suspect, Ogbulu Chidinma Pearl, was arraigned on four counts of conduct likely to cause breach of peace, endangering human life by distributing combustible matter in a public gathering, intent to do harm to another and unlawfully carrying on the business of storage and containerising petroleum product without permit.

He said, “Ogbulu was arraigned yesterday 14th March 2022 at the Special Offences (Mobile) Court of Lagos State in the Ikeja Magisterial District, Holden at Oshodi.

“Recall that following the viral video of distribution of petrol as souvenir recently, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc, had ordered the arrest of the suspect who was then at large.

“The Commissioner of Police reiterates the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and further warns citizens against acts capable of endangering human lives.”

Police In Lagos Arrest Over 200 In Raid Of Cubana Night Club

A mobile court sitting at the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit in Oshodi has convicted 172 persons arrested by the state police command for violating COVID-19 protocols.

The state Police Command shut down the popular Nightclub in Victoria Island where the violators were arrested.

With the aim of reducing losses, the government earlier permitted club houses with open bars and restaurants to resume such that there will be strict adherence to the covid19 protocols.

Rather than stick to the open bar arrangement where guests can be served drinks and grills while listening to music including live bands, police sources claimed Cubana opened its night club and allowed guests in, where they were allegedly caught dancing with no regards to the laid down social distancing policy.

“On Saturday, about 200 clubbers and fun seekers were arrested at Cubana Night Club, Lagos. They have immediately been handed over to the Lagos Police Command for investigation and possible prosecution.

Contacted, police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that suspects were handed over to the command by the IGP Monitoring unit, adding that they would be paraded by the Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu.
