Lagos Government Sacks Hospital Managers, Suspends LASIAMA GM After Doctor’s Elevator Death

Following the unfortunate death of Dr. Diaso Vwaere in an elevator crash at Island General Hospital Odan, the Lagos State Government has taken decisive action.

The facility managers responsible have been sacked and blacklisted, and the General Manager of LASIAMA has been suspended.

According to Olumide Sogunle, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Strategy, the state government has initiated these measures based on the initial findings of its panel of inquiry.

In addition to the personnel changes, the hospital management will now have a more direct involvement in the operations and line of reporting of the facility managers.

Moreover, the installation and maintenance contractors have been handed over to the Police for further investigation, and they may face prosecution if found culpable. The Police will also be looking into the possibility of negligence by any other individuals involved.

The government's actions aim to address the incident seriously and ensure accountability for the tragic loss of Dr. Diaso Vwaere's life.
