NURTW Protest: Lagos Police Deploy ‘Massive’ Patrol Teams

The Lagos State Police Command has assured Lagosians to go about their daily activities without fear, saying it has deployed "massive" patrol teams in every nook and cranny of the state to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ADEKUNLE AJISEBUTU, said the Command received unconfirmed reports that aggrieved members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers planned a protest in strategic places in the state.

This comes after the national body of the union had suspended its Lagos State Chairman, MUSILIU AKINSANYA, also called MC OLUOMO.

However, NURTW Secretary in the state, OLUWASEYI BANKOLE, dismissed the claim of a protest, adding that members of the union would abide by the directive of Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU.

He said the people who are supposedly protesting are not recognized nor legal members of the union, adding that whosoever is found disturbing the peace and order of Lagos State should be dealt with accordingly.
