Nollywood Icon RMD Opens Up: The Challenges of Faithfulness in Marriage

Renowned Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, recently shared his candid thoughts on the challenges of marital fidelity. In a candid conversation with comedian Teju Babyface, RMD expressed that remaining loyal to one's spouse can be a formidable task, citing that married men are often the target of individuals with less-than-honourable intentions.

Acknowledging the complexities of marital fidelity, RMD stated, "It is very hard, let's face it. Every one of us that is married is the target; I mean, look at women; how can we escape it." Drawing parallels to historical figures with dubious intentions, like Jezebel and Delilah, he emphasised the importance of standing firm against such influences.

In his analogy, RMD likened the situation to being a commander on a battlefield, underscoring the need for men to fortify their defences. He highlighted the significance of open communication with one's spouse, ensuring they know the challenges and taking proactive measures to guard against potential threats.

"It's like being a general; it's like being a commander on a battlefield. You drop, and the battalion scatters. It is very difficult; you have to get to a point where your wife understands what she is up against as well because if she is not up to speed or up to date on what she is up against, then your flanks are open," he emphasised.

RMD also addressed that swiftly leaving a marriage after a single instance of infidelity may not reflect a deeply rooted foundation. He suggested that a more nuanced approach and understanding of the complexities within a marriage can lead to stronger, enduring bonds.

In summary, RMD's insights shed light on the intricate dynamics of marital fidelity and the necessity for couples to navigate these challenges with open communication, mutual understanding, and a steadfast commitment to one another.

RMD Says He Broke The Specter Of Death In His Family

The movie star says his parents never made it to 60.

The movie star made this known during a chat with Chude Jideonwo on his show 'WithChude.'

RMD who would be turning 60 on July 6th, said his parents didn't make it to 60 which is a big deal for him.

"None of my parents lived to be 60, so life for me is just about to get started. There’s been a specter of death around my life, that’s what I’ve been dealing with last year till this year. When I turned 59, it was a big deal for me, big deal for me! My mom died at 59, my father died at 57/58," he said.

“So, it was like, can I break it? When people see me and I go on a weight loss, people think that... you know, it’s health. Both my parents were diabetic and hypertensive, I don’t want to be that. I don’t want to be diabetic and hypertensive, I want to be healthier."

"Atleast give myself a fighting chance to change that whole cycle. Yes I’m a Christian now, so I’ve broken that yoke but I have to also help myself.”

“Becoming 60 for me is even a bigger deal, so when July comes and I become 60. You know how the Bible says old things have passed away, I will truly truly become a new man because that is when I’ll make a bucket list. So all these things that you think I’ve achieved or done, for me it’s nothing, like zero.”

“So I’m going to now sit down when I’m 60 and do a bucket list … and then we’ll start.”

RMD is a Nigerian actor, writer, producer, and lawyer. He is also a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State.
