PSG Lead Arsenal, Chelsea In Race To Sign Osimhen

According to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is currently at the forefront of the competition to secure the signature of Victor Osimhen, despite keen interest from English Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

The Italian media outlet suggests that PSG is edging closer to meeting Osimhen's €130 million release clause, viewing the Nigerian international as the ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé, who is set to join Real Madrid.

Osimhen recently extended his contract until 2026; however, it includes a release clause of €130 million, prompting Napoli to consider parting ways with the leading Serie A scorer of the 2022–23 season at the end of the current campaign.

Il Corriere dello Sport also notes the historical ties between PSG and Napoli in completing transfer deals. Previously, players like Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani made the switch to Paris in 2012 and 2013, respectively, for a combined transfer fee of €95 million. Additionally, in 2022, Fabian Ruiz transferred to PSG for €23 million.

These past dealings between the two clubs hint at a potential agreement for Osimhen's transfer to PSG as they look to strengthen their squad for the future.

Newcastle’s chances of reaching the Champions League Knockout Stages Were Dashed As They Fell To Defeat Against Borussia Dortmund

Niclas Fullkrug scored for the hosts midway through the first half, and Julian Brandt added a second late on as the Germans completed a Group F double over their English opponents.

Newcastle’s greatest chance came just after the break, when Joelinton nodded Tino Livramento’s cross wide from five yards out.

The Brazil international’s shot was a rare clear sight at goal for Newcastle, with Edin Terzic’s Dortmund side dominating the first half.

Despite the visitors’ much superior second-half performance, the hosts had the better chances.

“We weren’t at our best today,” Newcastle boss Eddie Howe explained. “Our normal intensity and quality were missing.”

“We still had our chances, and Joelinton’s header was probably the game’s turning point from our perspective.” If it came in again, he’d bet on himself to score.”

After the interval, the game was also briefly halted as fake golden bars and other objects were thrown onto the pitch from the ‘Yellow Wall’ as part of a protest against Uefa’s proposed Champions League reforms, with one banner reading “You don’t care about the sport – all you care about is money.”

Newcastle’s return to Europe’s elite competition began with a stalemate away at AC Milan, followed by a thrashing of Paris St-Germain on Tyneside.

However, they now face an uphill battle to reach the knockout stages, with Dortmund’s double success over Howe’s side putting them three points ahead of Newcastle, who play PSG in their last group match.

If Newcastle loses in Paris, they will be unable to advance in the tournament following AC Milan’s triumph over the French champions later on Tuesday.

Ex-PSG Boss Galtier Takes Job In Qatar

Former Paris Saint-Germain coach Christopher Galtier has quickly returned to management, leading Qatari team Al Duhail three months after parting ways with the French champions.

Galtier, who secured the Ligue 1 title with PSG, left the club following a challenging second half of the season. The closing stages of his tenure were overshadowed by accusations of racism related to his previous position at Nice. Despite vehemently denying these allegations, he is scheduled to stand trial in December.

Al Duhail welcomes Galtier, who will take charge of a squad that includes former Liverpool and Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho. He steps into the role left vacant by Hernan Crespo; the ex-Argentina international who guided Al Duhail to a league victory last season.

Galtier's new challenge includes leading Al Duhail against Al Nassr, a team featuring stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane, in the Asian Champions League group stage, set to kick off later this month. Al Duhail currently holds one point from two matches in the competition.

Paris St-Germain, Kylian Mbappe, Striker Excluded from First Team Training

Paris Saint-Germain's all-time leading goalscorer Kylian Mbappe will not train with the first-team squad when they step up preparations for the start of the Ligue 1 season on Monday.

The France forward has been in a contract stand-off with PSG amid a desire to join Real Madrid. His current contract expires next summer, and PSG are keen to sell him now and secure a transfer fee rather than let him go for nothing.

As a result, Mbappe was left out of PSG's touring squad for their pre-season trip to Asia. He subsequently refused to meet with representatives of Al-Hilal, who made a world record offer to bring him to the Saudi Pro League.

It is understood that Mbappe will now train with the 'loft' group, which is a group of players who are not seen as part of the club's first-team plans this season.

PSG sources say their most recent attempt to broker a solution to the situation was to offer Mbappe a guaranteed sale clause in his contract for the end of this season. This offer was rejected.

After years of underachievement at Champions League level with their 'galactico' model of signing superstar players, PSG are now going down a different path. They are understood to be close to completing a deal for Benfica's Goncalo Ramos, who scored a hat-trick for Portugal at last year's World Cup in Qatar.

PSG are expected to pay 80m euros (£69m) for the forward.

The situation with Mbappe is a complex one, and it is unclear what the next steps will be. However, it is clear that PSG are determined to sell him, and they are unlikely to back down from their demands.

What does this mean for PSG?

The decision to train Mbappe with the 'loft' group is a clear sign that PSG are no longer counting on him for the upcoming season. This is a significant development, as Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, and his absence will be a major blow to PSG's hopes of winning the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League.

It is also worth noting that PSG are close to completing a deal for Ramos, who is a talented young player with a lot of potential. This suggests that PSG are already looking to the future, and they are prepared to move on from Mbappe.
