Three Ministers Withdraw Participation In Coming Primaries Of APC

Three ministers who withdrew their participation in the coming primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) today attended the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The affected cabinet members who participated at the meeting presided over by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI were Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, ABUBAKAR MALAMI; Minister of Women Affairs, PAULINE TALLEN; and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, TIMIPRE SYLVA.

While MALAMI attended the cabinet meeting physically, TALLEN and SYLVA joined virtually.

Minister Of State For Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, Withdraws From Presidential Race On Deadline For Resignation

Frontline Presidential aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Amaechi has officially resigned his position as Minister of Transportation to focus on his aspiration to contest for the 2023 presidency.

In a statement issued by the Amaechi Presidential Media Committee signed by Kingsley Wali, Amaechi in his resignation letter expressed profound gratitude to the President for considering him fit to serve in his administration.

Similarly, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has withdrawn from the presidential race and returned to work at the ministry.

An official at the ministry who chose to remain anonymous said Sylva withdrew from the race to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his quest to achieve a robust oil sector.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has also dropped her senatorial ambition saying she wants to focus on the foundation laid towards the advancement and realisation of gender equality in leadership positions in the country.

Also, the Managing Director, Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, Abbas Masanawa has resigned to focus on his governorship aspiration in Katsina State
