Lagos Demolition: Visit Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu – Kanu’s Lawyer Ejimakor Urges Igbo Leaders

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), urged Igbo leaders to visit Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Tinubu in response to recent demolitions in the state.

Allegations have surfaced that the Lagos State Government is specifically targeting the Igbo community in these demolitions.

Ejimakor, advocating for a proactive approach, suggested that Igbo leaders should meet with Sanwo-Olu and Tinubu and engage with the National Assembly caucus, traditional leaders, and civic leaders.

In a post on X, he emphasized the need for Igbo leaders to issue an injunction against the demolitions rather than pleading.

He wrote, "#LagosDemolitions: It's time for the entire IGBO leadership to pay a visit to @jidesanwoolu and @officialABAT. This should include the NASS caucus, all the governors, the clergy, and traditional & civic leaders. They shouldn't beg. Instead, they should issue an ultimatum—a cease and desist."

November 23, 2023 Release Nnamdi Kanu As Christmas Gift To Southeast – Ohanaeze To Tinubu

Release Nnamdi Kanu As Christmas Gift To Southeast – Ohanaeze To Tinubu

On Thursday, the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization conveyed a message to President Bola Tinubu, expressing that the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), would be the most significant Christmas gift for the people of the Southeast.

This plea comes in response to remarks by Chief of Defense Staff Christopher Musa, who accused self-proclaimed Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa of undermining security efforts in the Southeast. Ohanaeze, however, contends that showing mercy to Kanu would simplify Musa's task and diminish Ekpa's influence.

Ohanaeze argued that Kanu's release would end the Southeast's artificial security challenges, fabricated by criminals exploiting his name as a pretext. In a statement endorsed by the factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isisguzoro, Ohanaeze lamented that killer herders and criminals have exploited the Biafra agitation to terrorize the Southeast.

The statement urged President Tinubu, as a respected political figure, to consider the plight of the Southeasterners and release Kanu promptly, allowing them to celebrate Christmas and the New Year in a peaceful environment. Ohanaeze emphasized that restoring peace through Kanu's release would make the services of the Chief of Defense Staff and Security Chiefs unnecessary in the region.

Expressing dismay over the unjust suffering inflicted by Fulani herders and criminals, Ohanaeze highlighted the alarming discovery of over 70 individuals brutally murdered by herders operating from the Lokpanta Cattle Market in Leru Umunneochi, Abia State. The organization called on Tinubu to address the failures of past administrations that contributed to the current insecurity challenges in the Southeast, citing a loss of over 42 trillion naira since Kanu's incarceration and the criminal invasions by Fulani herders during the Buhari administration.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo believes that the release of Nnamdi Kanu would not only bring comfort to the people but also reinstate confidence in the leadership's commitment to the welfare and security of the Igbo community.

Ohanaeze Warns Tinubu Of Possible Northern Opposition In Presidential Rerun

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has warned President Bola Tinubu ahead of the tribunal's decision regarding the 2023 poll.

The group cautioned that the North may rally against Tinubu if a rerun is ordered. Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, highlighted the dissatisfaction of Northern leaders with President Tinubu's leadership style and appointments.

Isiguzoro's statement revealed that Northern leaders eagerly await the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal's verdict on September 16, 2023, to determine their course of action.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo cited instances where the Northern leadership had expressed discontent with Tinubu's presidency, including objections to his planned Ecowas invasion of the Niger Republic and concerns about key appointments in the Southwest.

The group emphasised that Northern leaders are exploring their options and may work against Tinubu in the event of a Presidential Rerun election."

Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, PANDEF Attack Northern Governors Over Opposition To 2023 Power Shift

The decision of the Northern States Governors Forum to oppose the call by its Southern counterpart that the Presidency should move to the South in 2023 has been criticised by groups comprising the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, Afenifere.

Stakeholders in the south said the northern governors’ position was against the unity of the country.

But the northern governors, who came up with this position stated at their meeting in Kaduna, said the call by the Southern Governors’ Forum was against the constitution of the country.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, described the position of the northern governors as unfortunate

It said the North benefited from the Nigerian union more than it contributed to it.

PANDEF, on its part, described northern governors’ opposition for power shift to the South as most ridiculous, cowardly and irresponsible.

National Publicity Secretary of PANDEF, Ken Robinson, said the attitude of the northern governors to the zoning of the Presidency to the south was insensitive.

In its reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Jare Ajayi, said fairness and equity demand that Presidency should come to the South in 2023, adding the group was surprised at the position of the governors, saying some northern governors had said before that power should come to the South in 2023.
