Senate Summons Wike, CP Over Nwoko’s Aide Killing By Kidnapper

The Senate has summoned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe over the spate of kidnapping in the region.

This comes in the wake of the murder of Chris Agidy, an aide to Senator Ned Nwoko, by some kidnappers.

Agidy was reportedly kidnapped along with 19 others in the Galadimawa area of Abuja in November 2023.

Following an exhaustive debate on the motion sponsored by Senator Nwoko, the Senate also resolved that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, should urgently increase security patrols and surveillance within Abuja and across the nation as a proactive measure against kidnappings.

Tinubu Returns To Abuja After Private Visit To Paris

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a two-week private visit to France.

The presidential jet, NAF 001, touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 9 pm.

The President was received by top government officials, including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The trip was Tinubu’s third to France and his 14th foreign visit since he assumed office eight months ago.

The president returns amid protests in some states over the rising cost of living and food prices.

The country witnessed demonstrations in Niger and Kano states on the high cost of living in the country.

APC Accuses Fubara Of Flouting Tinubu’s Peace Deal

The All-Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Siminalaye Fubara of flouting the peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu on the political crisis in Rivers State.

The Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, who made accusations, said Fubara is not sincere in implementing the peace deal.

Okocha claimed, while speaking with journalists in Abuja, that the governor must obey the dictates of the proclamation he willingly accepted in the presence of President Tinubu.

Insisting that Rivers State’s 2024 budget has not been presented, Okocha noted that Fubara cannot run the state without a budget.

The political crisis in Rivers State followed a face-off between Governor Fubara and his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
