President Buhari Says 2nd Niger Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Will Be Completed Before 2023

President Muhammadu Buhari, has said the second Niger bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway and other key projects under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) will be completed before 2023.

Speaking today in Abuja at the opening of a two-day mid-term ministerial performance review retreat organised to assess the progress made towards the achievement of the nine key priorities of the administration, President Buhari, according to a statement by Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, used the occasion to highlight some of the federal government’s achievements in the past two years.

“On transportation, we are growing the stock and quality of our road, rail, air, and water transport infrastructure,” Buhari said.

“The PIDF projects are also advancing remarkably. These include the 11.9km Second Niger Bridge, 120 km Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, 375 km Abuja – Kaduna – Zaria – Kano Expressway and the East West Road. Most of these projects are expected to be completed within this 2nd term of our Administration.”

The president further said his administration had made tremendous progress on railway projects in the country, adding that upgrading the railway network is being extended with the recent completion of Lagos–Ibadan line.

“Work is expected to commence very soon on the Port-Harcourt Maiduguri line and Calabar – Lagos Coastal Line to connect the Southern and Eastern States of our Country. Progress is also being made on the upgrading of our airports, with the state-of-the-art facilities in line with world-class safety standards,” he said.

British Prime Minister BORIS JOHNSON has said that the UK is available to assist Nigeria in its war against terrorism. 

JOHNSON disclosed this to President BUHARI while holding bilateral talks at the sidelines of the Global Education Summit in London.

At the meeting, the two leaders agreed that in a bid to bring the various forms of terrorism to an end, it is important that the judicial process runs without interference, no matter who was involved.

 The President had earlier joined other world leaders at the summit, where they made a 5-year pledge to support efforts to help transform education systems in and around the world.

During the panel discussion, President MUHAMMADU BUHARI said education occupies top priority in his administration.

Nigeria is to receive 120 million dollars from the Global Partnership on Education to be used in developing the sector, particularly regarding the girl child.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has congratulated Ondo state Governor, ROTIMI AKEREDOLU on his victory at the Supreme Court.

The President also charged the opposition in Ondo to lay aside its urge for fight with the ruling party and work with Governor AKEREDOLU in the interest of the development of the State.

 In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, FEMI ADESINA, the President affirmed that the popularity of APC would always depend on the performance and acceptance of its elected officers.

On his part, Governor AKEREDOLU described the Supreme Court judgment that upheld his reelection as victory for democracy.

President Buhari Signs 982.7 Billion Naira 2021 Supplementary Budget Into Law

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has signed the 2021 supplementary appropriation bill of 982.7 billion naira into law.

Senior special assistant to the President on the House of Representatives, UMAR EL-YAKUB announced this while briefing state house correspondents after the signing.

He said the supplementary budget will be largely focused on funding security and health concerns.

The assent by the president is coming a month after the federal executive council approved the supplementary budget for the year 2021.
