Many Feared Dead As Bomb Explodes In Kano

On Tuesday, an explosion occurred in the Sabon Gari district of Kano State, killing numerous people.

The explosion was verified by Kano State Commissioner of Police CP Sama’ila Dikko, although he maintained it was not a bomb blast.

“It wasn’t a bomb blast. It’s a gas cylinder explosion,” Dikko said.

“The seller’s shop is on the ground floor of the building where the school is located. So, when the cylinder exploded, it brought down the building and the pupils got injured. There wasn’t a bomb blast.”

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has urged residents to remain calm.

According to a statement published by Mohammad Garba, Commissioner for Information, Ganduje, the event occurred at an animal feed business beside a school on Aba Road in Sabon Gari community.

While the extent of the damage has yet to be determined, Garba stated that an inquiry has been launched to identify the source, impact, and next steps.

He promised that the administration would keep the public updated on any developments about the explosion and advised Kano citizens not to propagate false information.
