Gunmen Abduct Several Students In Delta State

Gunmen have kidnapped an unspecified number of students along the East-West road in Ughelli, Delta State. The vehicle's driver managed to escape unharmed.

According to Edafe Bright, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, the victims were possibly students returning from Calabar, Cross River State, on Friday night. They were abducted from the minibus they were traveling in. So far, no ransom demand has been made.

However, the police are actively searching for both the abductors and the students. Bright tweeted, "The Command is aware of this ugly incident, and we are doing all it takes to ensure that they are rescued unhurt."This abduction follows another incident where students from the University of Calabar (UNICAL) were kidnapped in Cross River.

The three students identified as Ojang Precious Ebejin, Ugwu Chukwuemeka, and Damilola Dickson were reportedly taken. Ojang is a 200-level student of Medicine and Surgery, Ugwu is a 300-level student of Genetics and Biotechnology, and Damilola is a final year student in the same department.

Kidnappers Invade Ogun Church, Abduct Two Worshippers

Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have launched an assault on a Celestial Church in Ogun State, resulting in the abduction of two worshippers identified as Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola.

The incident occurred near Oriyarin village, Mowe, situated in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday.As confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, in a statement released on Friday, the assailants made their escape through a dense forest located behind the church.

The statement reads: "Suspected kidnapping: A report in my possession indicates that on 28/3/2024, unidentified gunmen raided a Celestial Church in Oriyarin village, Mowe, and abducted Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola before fleeing through the thick forest behind the church. The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, has been briefed, and he has ordered the immediate mobilization of security personnel to pursue the criminals."

Police Nab Second Wanted FCT Kidnapper

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended Samaila Fafa, also known as Habu Ibrahim, the second individual among two notorious kidnappers for whom FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had offered a N20 million reward. According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the arrest took place on February 24, 2024, around 7:05 pm. This operation was conducted based on credible intelligence as operatives raided Sardauna Forest in the Toto area of Nasarawa State.

On February 14, 2024, Nyesom Wike, the former Rivers State governor, announced a N20 million bounty for the capture of two wanted bandits, Dahiru Adamu and Abu Ibrahim, suspected of terrorizing Abuja. The announcement came during Wike's meeting with FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, coinciding with the parade of 23 criminal suspects at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki, Abuja.

Previously, the anti-kidnapping unit of the FCT police command had apprehended Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, one of the wanted kidnappers, during a raid on two kidnappers' camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje Area Council on February 15, 2024, around midnight.

Josephine Adeh stated, "The suspect [Samaila Fafa] is one of the two kidnappers the Honorable Minister FCT placed a bounty on, as the other one, namely Saidu Abdulkadir A.K.A. Dahiru Adamu, had earlier been arrested by the Command. He confessed that his syndicate masterminded and executed several kidnappings in FCT and its environs, including the abduction of Barr. Chris Agidy, who provided legal aid to Senator Ned Nwoko. Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti Village, was also killed by them. Samaila Wakili further led police operatives to where the remains of Barr. Chris Agidy is. The remains were recovered and deposited in Gwagwalada General Hospital."

Adeh mentioned that investigations were ongoing, with CP Benneth Igwe reiterating his commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents.

13 Edo Train Passengers Still With Kidnappers

The state Edo government has said intelligence report shows that 20 people were kidnapped from the Tom Ikimi train station in Igueben Local Government Area of the state.

The state commissioner for Communication, Chris Nehikhare made the clarification while giving an update on the incident at a media briefing in Benin, the state capital.

The state had earlier said 32 persons were abducted during the attack which occurred at the weekend.

He also said seven of the abducted persons have been rescued.

Nehikare expressed confidence in the ongoing rescue noting that the ordeal of the innocent citizens will soon be over.
