Bandits Kill 30, Raze Houses In Southern Kaduna

About 29 people have been killed in a fresh attack by bandits on Runji Village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the State.

The attack which occurred at about 10 pm on Saturday came barely three days after bandits killed eight people at the Atak’Njei community also in the same Local Government Area.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan who confirmed the latest incident in a statement, said that several houses in the community were burnt down while some residents were injured by the attackers.

NDLEA Intercepts Drug Consignments In Wooden Statue, Imported Vehicle

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted illicit drugs hidden in a wooden statue and imported vehicles.

In a statement, NDLEA Spokesperson, Femi Babafemi said the consignments were meant for export to the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.

They were found at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja and Tincan seaport in Lagos.

Babafemi said no less than 37.5 kilograms of such illicit consignments were intercepted in the past week.

Eleven persons were also arrested in interdiction operations that led to the seizure of almost four tons of skunk in Kaduna, Kano and Lagos.

He further said a similar attempt to ship 11.5kgs of the same substance to the UK was frustrated when the consignment concealed in a giant wooden sculpture was intercepted at a courier company in Lagos.

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom Asks PDP’s Atiku To Apologize To Him For Outburst Or Will Lose The State’s Votes

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has called on the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), ATIKU ABUBAKAR, to apologise to him and people of the state over his outburst against him and the people.

The governor also told Atiku not to think that Fulanis alone could make him the president.

Ortom Stated this when he addressed youths from Jemgbagh axis which comprises Gboko, Buruku and Tarka local government areas who protested in solidarity with him.

The former vice president drew the ire of the governor during the interactive forum organised by the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna recently when he (Atiku) accused Ortom of profiling Fulanis.

Atiku had also in his condolence message said, “When our people are well integrated into communities where they live, work, pay taxes and raise their children, they’d be obligated to reciprocate the love and acceptance”.

Governor El-Rufai Raises Alarm Over Presence Of Boko Haram, Iswap In Kaduna State

The Kaduna state government has raised the alarm about the activities of terrorist groups in the State.

Speaking during the presentation of the first quarter security report for 2022 to the state’s security council, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said members of the Ansaru and Boko Haram terrorist groups have infiltrated some parts of Birnin Gwari and Chikun local government areas.

Aruwan said the terrorists have been luring locals with gifts with a view to recruiting them into the criminal organizations.

The report said between January and March 2022, a total of 360 people were killed while 1,389 others were abducted by terrorists in the state.

Speaking after he received the report from the commissioner, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed concern that the terrorists are moving from the North-East to the North-West with the intention of causing havoc.

He added that those who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna bound train were Boko Haram terrorists.

The governor is also worried that the conduct of the 2023 general elections might be compromised in Kaduna state if the security challenges are not addressed.

In an interview with Inspiration FM, Security Analyst, Dr Kabiru Adamu commended the efforts of the Kaduna state government saying it is worthy of emulation by other states.

Dr ADAMU said it is the duty of Nigerians to call on the federal government to act on the findings in the report.
