The children from Kuriga school who were rescued from their abductors in Zamfara State after enduring 16 days in captivity are set to be reunited with their parents today.

According to reports gathered by The Nation, the parents had a meeting with their children at the Kaduna Women and Children Shelter, where the children have been receiving psychosocial treatment. However, it remains uncertain whether the six children admitted to the Dallet Barracks Hospital of the 1st Division of the of the Nigerian Army were among those reunited with their parents.

Terrorists Kidnap 87 In Fresh Kaduna Attack

In a harrowing turn of events, terrorists launched a brutal attack on the Kajuru-Station community in Kaduna State on Sunday night, resulting in the abduction of 87 individuals. Harisu Dari, a member of the Kajuru-Station Youths, confirmed this distressing incident to our correspondent in Kaduna on Monday.

According to Harisu, the assailants not only abducted dozens of people but also looted shops, pillaging food items and other valuable belongings. The attack unfolded around 10 pm, plunging the village into chaos and terror.

This tragic event follows closely on the heels of another abduction just two days prior, where 15 women and a man were taken from the Dogon-Noma community within the same local government area. Over the past two weeks, Kajuru and Chikun LGs have emerged as epicenters of kidnapping, casting a pall of fear over the state.

Harisu revealed that as of his visit to the community the following morning, no security personnel had been deployed to assuage the villagers' fears and restore order. He emphasized the traumatizing impact of these repeated attacks on the community and urged the government to devise new strategies to combat the terrorists.

Reports indicate that within the span of two weeks, the terrorists have abducted over 172 villagers, exacerbating the already dire situation.

Despite efforts to reach out to the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, for comment, no response was received at the time of compiling this report, leaving many questions unanswered and the community in a state of profound distress.

I’m Not Quitting Politics, Says Kaduna PDP Gov Candidate

The candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the March 18, 2023, governorship election in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, says he will not quit politics despite the Supreme Court’s verdict that affirmed the election of Governor Uba Sani.

Ashiru stated this at a media briefing in Kaduna following the Supreme Court’s judgment.

He also urged the governor to pilot the affairs of the state, saying he would accept a hand of fellowship if that is his wish.

It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal in Abuja had, on November 24, 2023, in a unanimous judgment, affirmed the election of Uba Sani as Kaduna State governor.

The PDP and Ashiru challenged the outcome of the governorship election, alleging that Uba was not duly elected by a majority of valid votes cast in the election.

The PDP governorship candidate said he had taken the Supreme Court’s verdict in good faith while maintaining that he never lost the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Ashiru equally noted that he would not quit the stage, noting that politics is not about him but about the good people of Kaduna State.
