Williams driver George Russell could replace 2020 F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton at this weekend’s Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain, after the Briton tested positive for the Coronavirus.
The 7-time champion has been forced to withdraw following a positive Covid-19 test result, and Mercedes have approached Williams to see if the team would release Russell for this weekend and also for next weekend’s Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi – if Hamilton does not recover on time.
Mercedes who have guided Russell’s career since 2017, could fall back to reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne – if their move for Russell fails.

Top-ranked T20 batsman Dawid Malan helped tourists England beat hosts South Africa by four wickets in their second T20 match, to win the Series with a game to spare.
Malan scored 55 from 40 balls to lead England’s recovery from 83-4 as they chased 147 for victory, though – they finished with 148-6 in 19.5 overs.
The final match of the Series will take place on Tuesday in Capetown.

BOXING
Former world champion Mike Tyson and former four-weight division world champion Roy Jones Jr battled to an entertaining draw in their eight-round exhibition bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California last weekend.
Tyson who was making a comeback to the squared ropes in 15 years, dominated the bout for large periods but the judges who were employed by the World Boxing Council (WBC) declared the fight a draw.
Elsewhere, British heavyweight Daniel Dubois suffered a broken orbital bone and nerve damage in his left eye, as he fell to a 10th round knockout defeat – the first in his career to compatriot Joe Joyce last weekend.

FORMULA ONE
Newly-crowned 2020 world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed a record-extending 95th career race win, following his victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix in the Middle East on Sunday.
The Mercedes driver began the race in pole and he consolidated to finish first ahead of Red Bull pair Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon who placed second and third respectively, though the biggest talking point was Haas driver Romain Grosjean – who escaped a violent fire with burns to the back of his hands, after his car crashed into the barriers on the first lap.
The victory sees Hamilton match his previous best tally of 11 wins in a season, and he can match the all-time record of 13 race victories in a campaign, currently held by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel – if he wins the final two races of this season.
