The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended Samaila Fafa, also known as Habu Ibrahim, the second individual among two notorious kidnappers for whom FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had offered a N20 million reward. According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the arrest took place on February 24, 2024, around 7:05 pm. This operation was conducted based on credible intelligence as operatives raided Sardauna Forest in the Toto area of Nasarawa State.

On February 14, 2024, Nyesom Wike, the former Rivers State governor, announced a N20 million bounty for the capture of two wanted bandits, Dahiru Adamu and Abu Ibrahim, suspected of terrorizing Abuja. The announcement came during Wike's meeting with FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, coinciding with the parade of 23 criminal suspects at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki, Abuja.

Previously, the anti-kidnapping unit of the FCT police command had apprehended Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, one of the wanted kidnappers, during a raid on two kidnappers' camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje Area Council on February 15, 2024, around midnight.

Josephine Adeh stated, "The suspect [Samaila Fafa] is one of the two kidnappers the Honorable Minister FCT placed a bounty on, as the other one, namely Saidu Abdulkadir A.K.A. Dahiru Adamu, had earlier been arrested by the Command. He confessed that his syndicate masterminded and executed several kidnappings in FCT and its environs, including the abduction of Barr. Chris Agidy, who provided legal aid to Senator Ned Nwoko. Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti Village, was also killed by them. Samaila Wakili further led police operatives to where the remains of Barr. Chris Agidy is. The remains were recovered and deposited in Gwagwalada General Hospital."

Adeh mentioned that investigations were ongoing, with CP Benneth Igwe reiterating his commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents.

Tinubu Has No Plan To Move FCT To Lagos — Onanuga

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has re-emphasized that the president has no plans to move the Federal Capital Territory to Lagos.

This statement came following a rumour that surfaced on social media that the president plans to move the FCT to Lagos State after a department under the Ministry of Aviation, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, moved some of its departments to Lagos.

Stating this on his official X handle, Onanuga noted that the rumour started during the 2023 general elections campaign and was trashed.

Onanuga said those peddling rumours are dishonest, ethnic and regional champions trying to draw attention to themselves. According to him, Abuja has come to stay as it is backed by law.

Onanuga said many parastatals are not based in Abuja depending on their mandate, including the National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, which is in Lokoja, insisting that administrative decisions should not be politicides.

Also, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, said the adjustments do not affect their operations.
