PSG Lead Arsenal, Chelsea In Race To Sign Osimhen

According to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is currently at the forefront of the competition to secure the signature of Victor Osimhen, despite keen interest from English Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

The Italian media outlet suggests that PSG is edging closer to meeting Osimhen's €130 million release clause, viewing the Nigerian international as the ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé, who is set to join Real Madrid.

Osimhen recently extended his contract until 2026; however, it includes a release clause of €130 million, prompting Napoli to consider parting ways with the leading Serie A scorer of the 2022–23 season at the end of the current campaign.

Il Corriere dello Sport also notes the historical ties between PSG and Napoli in completing transfer deals. Previously, players like Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani made the switch to Paris in 2012 and 2013, respectively, for a combined transfer fee of €95 million. Additionally, in 2022, Fabian Ruiz transferred to PSG for €23 million.

These past dealings between the two clubs hint at a potential agreement for Osimhen's transfer to PSG as they look to strengthen their squad for the future.

England Youngsters, Cole Palmer, Rico Lewis And Ezri Konsa Get First England Call-Ups

Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Rico Lewis of Manchester City, and Ezri Konsa of Aston Villa have all been called up to the senior England squad for the last Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

Palmer, a member of the Under-21s side that won the European Championship in July, was summoned by Gareth Southgate the morning after scoring a stoppage-time penalty for Chelsea in a 4-4 tie with his previous club Manchester City.

Lewis was promoted from the Under-21s despite appearing in just two Premier League games this season, one of which was on the opening day. He is a versatile player who is usually used as a full-back or in midfield.

Konsa, who won the Under-20 World Cup in 2017, has appeared in every Premier League game for Aston Villa this season. His club primarily uses him as a centre-back, but he can also play right-back.

The call-ups come after the departures of James Maddison, Callum Wilson, and Lewis Dunk. The majority of the squad is expected to report to St George’s Park on Monday, and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has indicated that Jude Bellingham will also be forced to withdraw.

Chelsea and Manchester City Play A Thrilling 4-4 Draw In The Premier League

Cole Palmer, a former Manchester City player, struck a penalty in the fifth minute of stoppage time to help Chelsea tie the defending Premier League champions 4-4 on Sunday.

Palmer departed City for Chelsea in September in a move worth roughly $52 million, and he showed great poise to strike past Ederson in the dying stages of a thrilling contest at Stamford Bridge.

With four minutes remaining in regulation time, Rodri appeared to have secured a win for Pep Guardiola’s club with a deflected shot.

When Ruben Dias fell into substitute Armando Broja in the box, referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot. After a little pause, Palmer swept his shot into the corner, preventing City from jumping three points clear at the top.

Chelsea crushed Tottenham’s title hopes with a stunning 4-1 win over Ange Postecoglou’s squad on Monday, and they posed a challenge for City as well, coming back from behind three times.

In the 25th minute, Erling Haaland scored from the penalty spot after VAR determined Marc Cucurella fouled the Norwegian.

Four minutes later, Thiago Silva equalized with a header from the corner.

Manchester City 3-0 Young Boys: Erling Haaland Bags Double As Pep Guardiola’s Side Reach The Last 16 Of The Champions League

Manchester City advanced to the UEFA Champions League last 16 with a 3-0 home victory over Young Boys, thanks to Erling Haaland’s brace.

The Norwegian striker was a doubt coming into the game after being forced off early against Bournemouth the previous weekend, but he showed no signs of a problem as he calmly converted a penalty in the 23rd minute to open the score.

The hosts were in command throughout, and Phil Foden extended their lead on the stroke of half-time when he ran past his marker on the right before calmly stroking a low shot into the far corner.

Haaland added his second of the game just after the intermission with a 25-yard blast, bringing his season total to 15.

Young Boys’ agony was exacerbated moments later when they were reduced to ten men due to Sandro Lauper’s second yellow card.

Man City had chances to extend their lead, but they couldn’t convert as the game entered the last half-hour.

The result ensures that The Citizens will finish first in Group G with two games to spare if they avoid loss at home to RB Leipzig on Matchday 5.

On Sunday, Man City will travel to Chelsea in the Premier League. On Saturday, Young Boys will play Luzern in the Swiss Super League.
