Update: President Buhari Arrives In London For Global Education Summit, Medical Check Up

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has arrived in London, the United Kingdom to participate in the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education, 2021-2025.

After the summit, the president is expected to “spend a few days for an earlier scheduled medical check-up”.

This was contained in a statement issued by the president’s media adviser, FEMI ADESINA.

The summit will be co-hosted by UK Prime Minister, BORIS JOHNSON, and President UHURU KENYATTA of Kenya.

Buhari Travels To London For Medical Check-Up

Report has it that President Major General Muhammadu Buhari has travelled to London for his medical check up and he also plans on participating in the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education 2021-2025.

“The Summit, which will be co-hosted by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, and the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, will bring together Heads of State and Government as well as stakeholders and youth leaders, and provide a platform for partners to chart a way forward towards transforming education systems in partner countries, through exchange of best practices.

This was confined in a statement by the president’s media adviser, Femi Adesina, titled, ‘President Buhari attends global education summit in London’, on Monday.

“The President will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of State Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd) and Director General of National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar", he said.

President Buhari will plans to hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

President Buhari will spend a few days for an earlier scheduled medical check-up immediately after the Summit.

He will be back in Nigeria in the second week of August, 2021.

Gov Bello Hails Buhari For Appointing Wushishi As NECO Registrar

Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Prof. Dantani Wushishi as the substantive registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO).

This is contained in a statement by Mrs Mary Noel-Berje, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor in Minna on Thursday.

Gov. Sani-Bello described the appointment as the right choice and highly merited.

He described the new NECO registrar as an outstanding and reputable academician who has achieved so much and made the state and the country proud in the education sector.

He expressed confidence that the new NECO boss would discharge his duties with diligence and high sense of patriotism which are his hallmark in the long years of service in the academic circle.

The governor expressed optimism that the don would bring his experiences to bare in the administration of the nation’s examination body.

“We are proud that one of our own has been credibly picked to head the nation’s examination body. We must support him to succeed because if he fails, it is Niger State that fails,” he said.

He prayed Allah to guide and direct his decisions and actions, grant him a successful tenure at NECO and in the overall best interest of the country.

Wushishi who was born on April 5, 1965, is a Prof. of Science Education from Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State.

Until his appointment, he served in various capacities at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

He also participated in many National assignments assigned by institutions such as NECO and National Universities Commission (NUC), and belong to reputable organisations.

He was appointment by President Buhari as the substantive registrar of NECO on July 19, following the death Prof. Goodwill Obioma in May.

Buhari Flags Off $1.2bn Kaduna-Kano Rail Line

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has expressed the commitment of his administration to the revival of the Nigerian railway system to reduce the deficiency in transportation infrastructure in the country.

The President stated this at the ground breaking ceremony of Kano-Kaduna rail corridor in Kano state.  

He said the project when completed will drive effective and more efficient transportation of passengers and trade within the country.

President BUHARI also disclosed that his administration recognizes rail transportation and as such accord railway development priority it deserves.

On his part, the Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI AMAECHI described the flag off of the project as a promise kept by the President.

He said the railway project which is the biggest in the country will serve as a boost to both human and commercial transportation in the country.

The Minister also used the occasion to clear the air on the alleged cancellation of Port Harcout-Maiduguri project.
