Governor El-Rufai Raises Alarm Over Presence Of Boko Haram, Iswap In Kaduna State

The Kaduna state government has raised the alarm about the activities of terrorist groups in the State.

Speaking during the presentation of the first quarter security report for 2022 to the state’s security council, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said members of the Ansaru and Boko Haram terrorist groups have infiltrated some parts of Birnin Gwari and Chikun local government areas.

Aruwan said the terrorists have been luring locals with gifts with a view to recruiting them into the criminal organizations.

The report said between January and March 2022, a total of 360 people were killed while 1,389 others were abducted by terrorists in the state.

Speaking after he received the report from the commissioner, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed concern that the terrorists are moving from the North-East to the North-West with the intention of causing havoc.

He added that those who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna bound train were Boko Haram terrorists.

The governor is also worried that the conduct of the 2023 general elections might be compromised in Kaduna state if the security challenges are not addressed.

In an interview with Inspiration FM, Security Analyst, Dr Kabiru Adamu commended the efforts of the Kaduna state government saying it is worthy of emulation by other states.

Dr ADAMU said it is the duty of Nigerians to call on the federal government to act on the findings in the report.

Former President Obasanjo Asks His Generation to Step Down, From Nigeria’s Leadership

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on the older generation of Nigerians to give way for the younger generation to build a prosperous nation.

He said rather than contest, the old generation should collaborate with younger people and provide them with the requisite knowledge and experience to transform the country.

Obasanjo stated this in his capacity as Chairman while speaking virtually at the 2022 annual lecture of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation with the theme, ‘Beyond Boko Haram: Addressing insurgency, banditry and kidnapping across Nigeria’.

Obasanjo, in a veiled reference to the old generation of politicians jostling for the Presidency in 2023, was responding to the lecture by Fayemi that he was in primary school when the late Murtala Mohammed directed the affairs of the country.
