Ayo Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, has expressed his readiness to publicly criticize President Bola Tinubu if he fails to fulfill his campaign promises.
Fayose made this statement following a closed-door meeting with the President at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
Speaking to State House Correspondents, Fayose emphasized that he would not hesitate to speak out if Tinubu reneges on the pledges he made during his campaign. He asserted his lack of timidity in addressing such matters.
However, Fayose acknowledged Tinubu's commendable performance since assuming office and emphasized the importance of supporting and encouraging him in his role.
Fayose further stated that now that the elections are over, it is crucial for Nigerians to unite behind the President, who he believes is attentive and prepared to tackle the nation's challenges.
“If Asiwaju turns back on his promise, all he said when he was campaigning, I will be the first to talk. I am not timid,” he said.
“The steps so far taken can readily give us the direction of this government. Elections have come and gone, without prejudice to the courts.
“You will see him very alert and very clear in the direction he wants to take the country, but he can’t do it alone, he needs all of us,” said Fayose.
