Tottenham Close In On Top 4 Race After 3-1 Win Over West Ham

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was in high spirits as his side moved to within three points of the Premier League's top four with a strong display in the derby tie against West Ham.

Dynamic duo Son Heung-min and Harry Kane were involved in all three Spurs goals as they recorded back-to-back Premier League wins.

Conte who took over in November with Spurs eighth in the table, has impressed as they have climbed three places and are now fifth on the table.

Last month, Conte suggested he may not be the right man to manage the club after a string of disappointing results, but he has been encouraged by recent developments.

"We have this ambition, the ambition is to target fourth place. Before my arrival this seemed difficult to reach, but now after five months, this is starting to work," said the Italian.

"We want to stay in this race until the end. It's very difficult, but we are improving in a way that I like. This team is growing in the mentality, they are learning to control the game and this is very important.

"There are four teams that in my opinion in England are better than the others - I am talking about Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

"But if one of these four teams fail in the season and miss to stay in one of the four places, I think that now at this moment, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham need to be ready to try to stay until the end."

Tottenham got off to an impeccable start and went ahead in the ninth minute when West Ham defender Kurt Zouma guided Kane's cross into his own net under pressure from Son.

Son doubled Spurs' advantage after 24 minutes, but they could have easily gone out of sight as the forward also smacked the outside of the post after being teed up by Dejan Kulusevski.

Eventually, Son added a decisive third with two minutes to go, after Said Benrahma had pulled one back for the Hammers from a set-piece, pouncing on Craig Dawson's header at the back post.

Spurs are now just three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand. West Ham, who have played a game more than Spurs, drop to seventh, two points below Manchester United.

Antonio Conte Leaves Inter Mila By Mutual Consent

Antonio Conte has left Inter Milan by mutual consent, with Simone Inzaghi likely to replace him as head coach of the Serie A champions.

Conte has agreed a deal with the club's owners which will see him paid €7m (£6m) for the final year of his contract.

The former Chelsea boss guided Inter to their first Serie A title in 11 years but was embroiled in a dispute with the club's owners after they proposed a downsizing of his squad.

Inter chairman Steven Zhang reportedly asked Conte to cut his wage bill by 15 to 20 per cent and potentially sell players worth up to £70m this summer.

Conte was keen to keep up to eight players he sees as "untouchables" which include Milan Skriniar, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Lukaku is happy at Inter but Conte's departure, coupled with the club needing to cut costs, has put a question mark over his status at the club.

The club's strategy, according to reports, could include the sale of one of the club's star players and a move to focus on developing young talent.

Lazio manager Inzaghi is set to replace Conte at the San Siro. The former Italy striker has been in charge of the Rome club since 2016 and led them to a sixth-place finish this season, finishing six points above fierce rivals Roma.

Court hears Ferguson, Conte allegations

Agent Giuseppe ‘Pino’ Pagliara is on trial in England for bribery, having told an undercover reporter he helped Sir Alex Ferguson ‘fix’ a Manchester United match with Juventus and gave then-Chelsea manager Antonio Conte back-handers.

This is the same trial and general undercover sting operation from the Daily Telegraph that forced England manager Sam Allardyce to resign.

Pagliara, fellow agent Dax Price and former Barnsley assistant coach Tommy Wright are on trial at Southwark Crown Court for bribery.

Prosecutor Brian O’Neill QC said in court today that Pagliara accused Ferguson of conspiring to fix a Champions League game between Manchester United and Juventus.

“Towards the end of the meeting Pagliara launched into what could only be described as a diatribe of Sir Ferguson, accusing him of having conspired with Pagliara to fix the result of a football match between Juventus, a club which Pagliara was associated with, and Manchester United in the Champions League for which Pagliara had thanked him with a gold 30 grand Rolex watch.”
