Sanchez Snatches Late Equaliser As Inter Lose Ground In Title Race

Alexis Sanchez snatched an injury-time equaliser for champions Inter Milan but they lost ground in the Serie A title race with a draw at Torino.

Simone Inzaghi's side fell behind to an early Gleison Bremer finish and Torino - winless in six league games - had keeper Etrit Berisha in inspired form.

The Albanian denied Lautaro Martinez, Hakan Calhanoglu and Federico Dimarco.

Edin Dzeko headed over late on but still had time to tee up Sanchez on 93 minutes, who fired in off a post.

Th result means Inter have just one win in their last five league games and their form has seen them drop to third in the table after Napoli moved second with a 2-1 win at Verona earlier on Sunday.

Victor Osimhen struck twice to give Napoli back-to-back away wins but AC Milan may consider themselves the major winners in the title race over the weekend after their 1-0 win over Empoli on Saturday.

Stefano Pioli's side hold a three-point lead over Napoli and a four-point advantage on Inter, who have a game in hand.

Alexis Sanchez scored twice to earn Inter Milan a 2-1 win at Parma and move them six points clear at the top of Serie A.

The Chilean latched on to a loose ball to open the scoring in the 54th minute after an even first half.

He added a second eight minutes later after fine work by fellow ex-Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku.

Parma cut the deficit through Hernani but Inter held on in their bid for a first Italian title in 11 years.

A sixth league win in a row moves them six points clear of rivals AC Milan and 10 ahead of champions Juventus, who are third.

Struggling Parma remain 19th, six points from safety, and without a league win since November.

Manchester United may be about to get Alexis Sanchez off their hands but they will still be saddled with an enormous wage bill, according to reports.

Sanchez has become a figure of ridicule at United since joining from Arsenal in January 2018, scoring just three league goals in 32 appearances and increasingly being confined to the bench or the stands.

The club have been trying to find a club for Sanchez but his enormous wages have hamstrung their efforts to offload him with the player understandably unwilling to accept a massive pay cut.

The Chile international is at last set to join Inter Milan along with fellow United outcast Romelu Lukaku, but the Mail claim it will not be saving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side much money at all as they have only been able to agree a loan move for the forward.

August 28, 2019 Inter Milan have agreed a loan deal to sign forward Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United.

Inter Milan have agreed a loan deal to sign forward Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign Sanchez before the European transfer window closes on Monday.

If a deal goes through, Sanchez will link up with ex-United team-mate Romelu Lukaku, the striker having joined the Serie A club for £74m this summer.

However, Inter have not agreed an option to buy Sanchez at the end of the loan agreement.

United’s highest earner, Sanchez is thought to earn around £400,000 a week, a figure way outside of Inter’s current pay structure.

It has been suggested United may subsidise his salary as part of a deal and last week Inter offered to pay £150,000 of Sanchez’s weekly wages, but United wanted more.

Sanchez has had a disastrous 19 months at Old Trafford since leaving Emirates Stadium in January 2018, scoring just five times in 45 appearances.
