Two Worshippers Abducted, One Killed as Gunmen Attack Kogi Church

Two worshippers have been abducted while one was killed on Sunday when gunmen attacked a church in Kabba, Kogi state.

One of the worshippers, Kayode Akanbi said the service had just started when the gunmen burst into the church around 10:15am.

Akanbi said that the six invaders were armed with guns and cutlasses and were not masked.

He said the spouse of one of the two abducted worshippers and another male worshipper sustained gunshot injuries.

Police spokesperson in Kogi state, William Aya, confirmed the attack on the church.

Update: Four Additional Abducted Bethel Baptist Students Regain Freedom

Four additional abducted students of Bethel Baptist Secondary School in Kaduna State have regained freedom.

A top official of the school said the four students escaped from the forest last night.

The latest development, therefore, brings the total number of the rescued students to 38 out of the 121 that were abducted by bandits on July 5th.

Eighty-three other students are still in the custody of the kidnappers inside the forest, with their parents and the school management praying fervently for their safe return.

On Sunday, 28 students returned home after they were found inside the Tsoho Gaya Forest in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Sunday.

Abducted Students Of Kaduna Baptist School Regain Freedom

After 20 days in captivity, bandits have released 28 of the students abducted from Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna.

CAN Chairman in Kaduna confirmed the release of 28 out of 121 students that were kidnapped on July 5, 2021.

Kaduna state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Joseph Hayab confirmed the release of the students on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

A total of 121 students were abducted from their hostels by bandits on July 5.

It would be recalled that on July 12, one of the students, Abraham Aniya was rescued by security operatives alongside two other victims who were kidnapped along Kaduna-Kachia road.

On July 20, two other students escaped when they were tasked to go and fetch firewood from a nearby forest.

Troops Rescues 10 Persons Abducted From The Staff Quarters Of FAAN Kaduna

Kaduna state troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 10 persons abducted from the staff quarters of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) after 11 days in captivity.

They were abducted on March 6 when bandits invaded the FAAN staff quarters in the Ifira community, near the Kaduna airport.

The state’s commissioner for internal security and home affairs, SAMUEL ARUWAN confirmed their release but said precise details of the rescue location cannot be provided due to operational expediency.

He added that Governor NASIR EL-RUFAI has met with the rescued citizens “to encourage them, and assure them of the unwavering commitment of the Kaduna state government”.

However, the 39 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka, who was abducted by bandits are still in captivity.
