CONFEDERATION OF AFRICAN FOOTBALL HAS CONTINUED PLANS TO MINIMIZE CORRUPTION IN AFRICA FOOTBALL WITH MOVE TO CATERING FOR REFEREE`S PAYMENT

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is to take over payment of all referees that officiates game on behalf of African football’s ruling body in a bid to stamp out corruption.

Previously, CAF rules stated that hosting team in an African football match should pay such costs to the referee.

However, CAF has taken another action within a month to minimize the threat of corruption in refereeing, after the African football governing body removed the Best Referee in Africa award in December.

CAF have also determined that the period whereby Africa’s leading club competitions would move from a calendar year to a September-May schedule with plans to start by December 2018.
