Vice President YEMI OSINBAJO approved the contracts alleged to have been unduly awarded by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Managing Director, Dr. MAIKANTI BARU.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President on Media, LAOLU AKANDE confirmed this on his twitter handle on Thursday.
Tweeting on @akandeoj, he said that, the contracts were approved by OSINBAJO when he acted as president after ensuring due diligence in the process.
Mr AKANDE also noted that the steps were taken following recommendations to award the contracts to solve the issues of backlog of unpaid joint ventures cash calls and other investments.
It would be recalled that Minister of State, Petroleum, Dr. IBE KACHIKWU had last week accused BARU of insubordination over his approval of 25billion dollars worth of contracts.
The GMD however denounced the allegations, saying they were baseless.
