Chieftains of the All Progressives Party (APC), in the southwest region, converged on Ibadan yesterday to deliberate on governance in Nigeria.
Fielding questions from reporters after the meeting, former Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief BISI AKANDE said the parley was convened to assess new ways of bringing dividends of democracy closer to the people.
He also revealed that the APC was interested in winning the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State, assuring that machinery would be set in motion to achieve the goal.
AKANDE also enjoined Nigerians to handle calls for restructuring with caution and ensure that such agitations do not infringe on the right of fellow compatriots to live and work in any part of the country.
The host, Governor ABIOLA AJIMOBI was joined by his counterparts from Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Ondo, AKINWUMI AMBODE, IBIKUNLE AMOSUN, RAUF AREGBESOLA and ROTIMI AKEREDOLU respectively.
Other stalwarts of the ruling party at the meeting include former Governors ADENIYI ADEBAYO and Dr. KAYODE FAYEMI alongside Senator OLUSOLA ADEYEYE.
