Super Eagles midfielder, AFEEZ AREMU wishes to score against Benin Republic in today’s WAFU Cup semi-final to make up for a penalty goal he caused which led to Nigeria losing to the same team in a CHAN qualifier last month.
The home-based Eagles lost 1-0 in Cotonou last month after the Akwa United star fouled a Benin Republic striker inside the box in the closing moments of the CHAN qualifier.
Nigeria fought back to beat Benin 2-0 in Kano a week later to qualify for a third straight CHAN tournament.
AREMU revealed to newsmen it was a difficult time for him when Nigeria lost to Benin Republic for the first time ever at full international level.
However, the defensive midfielder said he hopes to make amends by scoring today and expects a tough opposition especially as Benin have brought in some new players.
