Tobi Amusan Triumphs At Diamond League Finals In Eugene

Nigeria sprinter Tobi Amusan clinched her third Diamond League trophy in the Women’s 100m Hurdles with a time of 12.33 seconds.

Amusan started strong and maintained her lead, clearing the final hurdles with determination and finishing with an impressive season-best time of 12.33 seconds. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn from Puerto Rico gave a strong chase, coming in second with a time of 12.38, while Keni Harrison from the United States took third place at 12.44. The world champion, Danielle Williams from Jamaica, finished fourth at 12.47.

After a disappointing performance in Budapest, Amusan bounces back in style, making history as only the second woman in Diamond League history to win three consecutive 100m hurdles titles.

Real Madrid Continues 100% Start And Return To Top

Real Madrid came from behind to extend their 100% start to the season to five games with a 2-1 win against Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu Stadium.

Former Newcastle and Stoke striker Joselu was their unlikely hero, rising at the far post to head home Fran Garcia's cross on the hour.

After netting five times in his first four games for his new club, Jude Bellingham's phenomenal scoring run ended.

Bellingham's best chance came in stoppage time as he rose to meet Brahim Diaz's cross, only for Alex Ramiro to make an excellent save.

However, the England man was pivotal in Real Madrid clawing their way back into the game after they had suffered the shock of conceding in the fifth minute.

On-loan Chelsea’s keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga couldn't keep out Ander Barrenetxea's second effort after he had pushed the first back to the visiting forward.

Sociedad had gone 46 league matches without defeat since they last lost after leading at the break. Still, once Federico Valverde had levelled with a powerful shot from the edge of the area a minute after the resumption, it was likely to be an uphill battle to preserve that record.

The visitors had chances to extend their lead in an open contest as Barrenetxea blazed over after Kepa had pushed another rebound straight to him and saw the Spain international keep another effort out with a full-length save.

But once Real Madrid got themselves in front, they never looked likely to surrender their advantage.

The result maintains Real Madrid's two-point advantage over arch-rivals Barcelona at the top of the table as they get ready to begin their quest for a 15th Champions League crown against German challengers Union Berlin on Wednesday.

Real Sociedad, who were suffering their first defeat of the season, are also in action on Wednesday when they entertain last season's runners-up, Inter Milan.

Emmanuel Dennis To Undergo Medical Ahead of Basaksehir Loan Move

Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis is set to undergo medical tests ahead of his loan move to Istanbul Basaksehir from Nottingham Forest.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano stated this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) early Friday morning.

“Emmanuel Dennis will travel today to Istanbul in order to complete his move to Istanbul Basaksehir,” Romano wrote.

“Nottingham Forest approved loan deal with salary covered. NO buy option. Medical booked, here we go confirmed.”

Dennis has been heavily linked with a move away from Forest after he found himself surplus to requirements at The City Ground.

The transfer window in the UK shut almost two weeks ago, but it remains open in Turkey until tonight.

Basaksehir are now about to take advantage of that, with Dennis all set to make the move to Turkey in the coming hours.

The Super Eagles attacker joined Forest from Watford for £20million 13 months ago.

He played 25 times under Steve Cooper last season from which he scored two goals and provided three assists.

On Thursday, Romano revealed Basaksehir had reached a deal with the Premier League side and that the contract has no buy-out clause.

Farhad Moshiri Agrees To Sell Club To American Investment Fund

Premier League Everton are set to have new owners after Farhad Moshiri agreed to sell his 94% stake in the club to American investment fund 777 Partners.

The takeover would bring to an end the tumultuous tenure of British-Iranian Moshiri, who first invested in 2016.

The sale is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, subject to Premier League, Football Association and Financial Conduct Authority approval.

The takeover would mean half of the 20 top-flight clubs are American-owned.

Moshiri said in a statement: “The nature of ownership and financing of top football clubs has changed immeasurably since I first invested in Everton over seven years ago.

“The days of an owner/benefactor are seemingly out of reach for most, and the biggest clubs are now typically owned by well-resourced private equity firms, specialist sports investors or state-backed companies and funds.”

777 founder Josh Wander said: “We are truly humbled by the opportunity to become part of the Everton family as custodians of the club, and consider it a privilege to be able to build on its proud heritage and values.

“Our primary objective is to work with fans and stakeholders to develop the sporting and commercial infrastructure for the men’s and women’s teams that will deliver results for future generations of Everton supporters.”
