Court Approves Alternative Method Of Serving Mohbad’s Wife For DNA Test

The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has issued a directive for Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, to be notified of an impending DNA test application through alternative means. Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family's legal team, confirmed this, citing the court sheriff's failure to serve the court documents to Wunmi personally on two occasions.

The matter of conducting a DNA test on the deceased's son, baby Liam, has been a longstanding issue for the Aloba family since MohBad's passing. The family is disputing the paternity of baby Liam and has petitioned the Family Court to compel Wunmi to undergo a DNA test along with baby Liam at a recognized laboratory in Lagos. The application filed by the legal team sought an order to serve Wunmi the court papers for the DNA test by posting all necessary documents to her last-known address.

Odumosu explained that if the court process were served at Wunmi's last-known address as per the court's order, it would constitute valid service, thereby ensuring her awareness of the pending lawsuit. The Chief Magistrate granted the order, instructing that Wunmi be served by posting the court documents to her last known address. The statement also mentioned a viral video where the singer's wife expressed readiness for a DNA test, indicating that she had not been available for the court sheriff's attempts to serve her the originating motion.

Additionally, Odumosu stated that the matter had been adjourned until next month for the report on service. However, Wunmi's counsel, Taiwo Olawanle, claimed ignorance of the court order, stating they were unaware of any such order but would advise her to comply if they were made aware. Mohbad passed away on September 27 last year under controversial circumstances, prompting his body's exhumation for autopsy to determine the cause of death. The Lagos State Police Command formed a 13-man special investigation team in the same month to probe the singer's death, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others.

Paternity Fraud Should Be Criminalised Like Rape, Says Actor Salami

Actor Rotimi Salami contends that paternity fraud warrants the same level of legal measures and consequences as rape.

This assertion was made in a post on his Instagram page where he emphasized the emotional anguish experienced by a man upon discovering that the child he has been nurturing is not biologically his, equating it to the trauma endured by a woman who has been subjected to rape. Salami advocates for the criminalization of paternity fraud to the extent that it parallels the legal status of rape, emphasizing the seriousness of both offenses.

In his post, he stated: "Paternity fraud should be criminalized just like rape. The experience of being raped is the same as what a man goes through when he finds out he’s been raising another man’s child. Damn! Rape is a major offence. Paternity fraud should also be. None of these 2 should be encouraged. Men’s mental health too matters."
