After several controversies, Korea has decided to withdraw it’s trade minister Yoo myung-hee from the race for World Trade Organization Director General, paving the way for Nigeria’s former finance minister.
This decision has been converted to the United States which has insisted that Ms. Yoo must be selected. She has been put on the spot partly because Washington insists she is seen close to the Democratic party.
People familiar with this development has said Seoul will announce this decision in few days in order for World Trade Organization counsel to appoint Ngozi Okonji-Iweala.

Ambassador Walker scheduled a meeting earlier in November but it has been postponed as a result of a sudden surge in Covid19 cases. A meeting has been scheduled to take place in Dec 17 although it hasn’t been decided if the meeting can take place considering the current restriction.
The Grammy-nominated songstress and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Daisy Dove Bloom. Katy and Orlando shared the news with UNICEF, the organization they serve as Goodwill Ambassadors for, on Wednesday, Aug 26.

In “celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has,” Katy and Orlando established a UNICEF donation page on baby Daisy’s—or “DDB” as they called her—behalf.

2. Take breaks at work
“Take several breaks at work: Go to the restroom and open the faucet with cold water, keep your hands underwater for a few seconds, and splash some of that water on your face. You will feel refreshed and energized,” says Milana Perepyolkina, an international best-selling author.
3. Move every day
“Exercise contributes to longevity, but not just living longer—living a vital life longer. Exercise decreases the risk of all major health complications, including heart disease, diabetes, and cognitive decline. Try adding in 15-30 minutes 2-3 times a week to begin, and build from there,” says Sarah Thacker, LPC, health coach, and yoga instructor.
4. Spend more time with loved ones
“When you feel connected to others and spend time having fun, sharing, and laughing, you naturally feel better and improve the quality of your life,” says Thacker.
5. Be consistent
A good routine is key when it comes to diet, and committing to a healthy eating plan is where you will reap the most benefits. “When I think of nutrition, I think about how it can not only be preventative but how it can manage disease,” says Jessica Crandall, a Denver-based RD, Certified Diabetes Educator, and National Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. “I always say that it’s not one day that’s going to make you healthy or one day that’s going to make you unhealthy. It’s about adding that accountability in every single day that will help you improve your overall nutrition so that you can improve your health and longevity.”
6. Fuel up with protein
You don’t have to eat chicken for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but it is recommended that you fit a hearty dose of protein at every meal. “Focusing on protein is something that’s really important as we get older because it plays a crucial role in keeping our muscles strong. You should be having a good protein source at breakfast, lunch, and dinner—whether that be beans, nuts, yogurt, eggs, meat, or fish. Aim for 20-30 grams per meal,” says Crandall.
7. Eat an antioxidant-rich diet
Antioxidants are one of your greatest defenses against aging, so it would serve you well to bolster your diet with as many as possible. “I’m always an advocate for adding antioxidant-rich foods to your diet to help prevent and ward off disease. Berries, bell peppers, grapes, and brightly colored fruits and veggies are all great options. I suggest having at least three cups of veggies and two cups of fruit per day at minimum,” says Crandall.
8. Drink more water
It’s impossible to talk about a healthy diet and aging without mentioning this essential component. Drinking enough water daily can help with weight management, skin health, and keeping your body efficient. “A good range is between 64 and 90 ounces of water per day, which would translate to eight glasses of eight ounces of water or more. Other fluids count toward hydration, including things like milk, decaf coffee, and teas,” says Crandall.
9. Cut out fake foods
If the ingredient list is long and full of words you can’t pronounce, toss it. The best foods for your body don’t come in boxes. “As we get older, I think it’s important to cut out non-nutritive foods like added sugars and really limiting sweets. As we age, our palates can sometimes shift toward sweeter foods, so be mindful of that. The more sweets we have, the more inflammation we have. Inflammation in the body can put you at greater risk for cardiovascular disease, joint pain, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome,” says Crandall.
10. Consult a dietitian
“The best thing we can have on our side is prevention. Working with a preventative specialist such as a dietitian can be really instrumental in making sure you’re hitting those good quality nutrition markers. I’d recommend seeing an RD once a year at a minimum; some people do it three or four times per year if they have an actual concern that needs to be addressed,” says Crandall. Leading a healthy life is all about developing good habits and exercising them daily. Consulting an expert helps take the guesswork out of it all and can help set you up for true success from the get-go.
It’s no surprise that so many people are already calling Beyoncé’s Black Is King “iconic.” Ever since the singer’s visual album (a companion to the music of The Lion King: The Gift) premiered on Disney+ last Friday, the Beyhive has been raving over the project, with celebrities like Kerry Washington, Adele and Keke Palmer taking to social media to praise the visuals, costumes, cinematography and more.
Now, in an exclusive new interview with ET, co-director Kwasi Fordjour is spilling all the details on how Black Is King came to be and what it was like traveling all over the world with Beyoncé.
“It started a year ago, and at the time, it wasn’t a grand idea; it was a video,” Fordjour tells ET’s Kevin Frazier. “We had just finished ‘Spirit.’ That was the first visual from the album, and she wanted to release more visuals. We were discussing what we would do, what the process would be, and that’s how it all started.”
“For me, it’s pretty exciting,” he adds, of what it’s like working on such a massive production. “Your adrenaline starts to rush and it becomes like, ‘OK, what are we going to do, how are we going to do it, where do we start?’ When you get into the space where you’re so interested and enthralled with creating worlds and spaces, it becomes fun, and she makes it fun.”
Fordjour tells ET that Black Is King was filmed in several locations, from South Africa to Belgium to London, and even Bey’s home in Los Angeles.
“The tree shot in ‘Already,’ that was her backyard,” he reveals. “Yeah, that was the adrenaline [rushing] because she was like, ‘I want to shoot, let’s do it. Let’s start at my house.’ I was like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s do it!’ So we scouted and we found the tree that felt like it was the most relative to The Lion King.“
“Because it was the first video, that video took the longest to shoot,” he adds. “I want to say we shot that one across maybe like 4-5 days.”
While the visual album is filled with memorable scenes, one of the most talked about is the backyard tea party, which features Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, and her and JAY-Z’s 8-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Fashion curator Zerina Akers, who worked closely with Fordjour, tells ET that was her favorite scene to style… especially with Tina being involved!
“Miss Tina actually was a last-minute addition to that shot. She came to set that day and Beyoncé was like, ‘Mom, you have to be in this,'” Fordjour recalls. “So we put her in her pink look.”
Akers also joked about having to pack a whole suitcase of apparel and accessories anytime Bey calls. She says Beyoncé had a total of 63 costume changes within the 85-minute film.
“You have to be prepared,” she exclaimed. “If she says, ‘I just want to shoot, I think it would be really nice in a T-shirt,’ I’m like, OK, 10 ball gowns, please. Just in case! Because more likely than not, we get there and it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s so beautiful, we need something more grand.’ And we kind of allow it to shape-shift.”
Akers always makes sure to pack some extra items for Blue, too, as she is consistently surprising the crew. “The cool thing about Blue that not a lot of people know is that a lot of times she chooses when she wants to [be involved],” Akers shares. “She may see her mother doing a shot she thinks is cool. When she sees something in it, she may be like, ‘I want to do that, can I have a turn to do that?'”
“She gets up and she just kind of does her thing,” she adds. “It all kind of comes to life.”
Kim Kardashian West is voting for her husband Kanye West to end his White House run.
Amid a report that Kim is working to save their six-year marriage, she is also said to be urging him to end his long shot presidential bid for the sake of their family. Kanye, however, has gone the complete other direction.
“Kim begged Kanye to stop his presidential thing, to stop talking about their kids at rallies. But he ignored her and instead he went ahead and hired more people . . . and tried to register in more states,” a source told Page Six, adding that Kanye “just won’t stop” in his desire to be POTUS.
Kanye announced on July 4 on Twitter that he was running for President of the United States. At the time, Kim replied to the tweet with an emoji of an American flag, seemingly a show of support. He later tweeted that he has been eyeing a divorce from the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star, only to later delete the tweet and apologize to Kim publicly. Kim has said Kanye is in the midst of bipolar episode.
While this has gone on, Kim and Kanye have reportedly been living separate lives — she’s been in Los Angeles with their kids, while he’s in at their $14 million ranch in Wyoming. Multiple reports said he was ignoring Kim’s calls for several days, but the duo reunited briefly in Wyoming last week. But, it didn’t look like a happy reunion, as photos showed her crying while they appeared to be involved in a heated discussion.
“This is a nightmare for Kim, she is looking for a way out. But she’s also a nice person and wants to do the best for her kids,” Page Six’s source said.
Still, Kim hasn’t given up. On Aug. 2, photos emerged showing Kanye and son Saint boarding a private plane in Wyoming and hours later, TMZ — citing sources close to the West family — reported that Kim and Kanye are taking “a private family vacation to try and work things out.” Kim and Kanye haven’t “seen each other much at all for months,” the website said.

Beyonce has unveiled the all-star trailer for her upcoming visual album, Black Is King, featuring her husband JAY-Z, supermodel Naomi Campbell and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o.
The teaser for the Disney+ project, based on the singer’s The Lion King album, The Gift, also features Beyonce’s longtime pal and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams, and her mum, Tina Knowles Lawson.
The film, which will premiere globally on streaming service Disney+ on 31 July, “reimagines the lessons from the 2019 blockbuster for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns,” according to a Disney press release.
Black Is King includes full-length videos for the songs Already, Brown Skin Girl, Mood 4 Eva and My Power, which features in the new trailer.
Beyonce is credited as writer, director and executive producer on Black Is King.
Actress Amber Heard began giving evidence on Monday in Johnny Depp’s libel action against a British tabloid, telling London’s High Court that her ex-husband had threatened to kill her.
Depp is suing News Group Newspapers, publishers of the Sun newspaper, over a 2018 article which labelled him a “wife beater” and questioned his casting in the “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” franchise.
“Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far,” Heard said in her witness statement.
“He explicitly threatened to kill me many times, especially later in our relationship.”
The court has already been told that Heard, 34, accuses her ex-husband of attacking her on at least 14 occasions between 2013 and 2016 when he became enraged after drinking or taking drugs to excess, accusations Depp, 57, has denied.

The “Yeah!” singer was calling for the United States to recognize June 19 as a national holiday that celebrates the country’s abolishment of slavery and freedom for Black people.
“Recognizing Juneteenth as a national holiday would be a small gesture compared with the greater social needs of black people in America. But it can remind us of our journey toward freedom, and the work America still has to do,” Usher wrote in his column. The R&B singer acknowledged that he can’t separate his art from social justice issues that are currently rocking the country amid the Black Lives Matter movement.
“As an artist, it is my duty to reflect the trying times in which we live. My heart is shattered by the ongoing injustices in this country, incited by its long history of racism that has led to deadly outcomes for too many of our people. This country must change. And it must change quickly,” he wrote. Usher’s moving words joined the chorus of celebrities who also urged for Juneteenth to become an officially recognized national holiday, including Taylor Swift and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Although Usher’s op-ed was well-received, he didn’t receive as positive a reaction after shading Nicki Minaj during an Instagram live chat with producer Swizz Beatz in May. “I see a lot of, Lil’ Kim versus Foxy Brown. Then I see a lot of — Lil’ Kim versus Nicki? I see a lot of that. Nah, Nicki is a product of Kim,” the singer said, leading to backlash from Nicki’s loyal Barbz fanbase. Plans are underway by the International Police (INTERPOL) Nigeria to extradite Instagram celebrity Raymond Igbalodely a.k.a. Hushpuppi from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nigeria to face alleged multiple fraud charges.
The INTERPOL is also on the trail of other accomplices in the alleged fraud who are resident in Nigeria to bring them to justice. Commissioner of Police (CP) INTERPOL, Garba Umar disclosed these to The Nation yesterday while confirming the arrest of Igbalodely whose real name is said to be Ramoni Igbalode.
He said: “It is true that Hushpuppi was arrested by the INTERPOL. We are currently working on bringing him to Nigeria to face charges of fraud.
“Some of the offences were committed here in Nigeria and he has to answer for them. He is not alone in it; there are accomplices in the country who we are currently on their trail,” said the CP.
Hushpuppi, known for his reckless display of wealth on social media, was arrested three days ago for allegedly hacking into the United States (US) unemployed database and impersonating citizens qualified for unemployment funds.
He and his accomplices in Nigeria, Dubai and other countries allegedly defrauded the US of over $100 million meant for Native Americans in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nation reports that his arrest came three days after he posted a picture of his newly acquired 2020 Rolls Royce Cullinan worth about N280 million, the latest addition to his fleet of exotic vehicles.
It was alleged that Hushpuppi was arrested alongside two of his friends after weeks of investigation by the US Secret Service, following the alarm raised in May about a crime ring of suspected Nigerians who broke into the personal information of citizens and used factitious unemployment claims to steal hundreds of millions of dollars reserved to help jobless American people.
The syndicate was alleged to have filed in so many names of Americans who were still working to various state unemployment offices and collected money from the system.
They were alleged to have used information stolen from first responders, government personnel and school employees.

She had tweeted about how she was sexually assaulted. “Anyways I was molested in Tallahassee, Florida by a black man this morning at 5:30 on Richview and Park Ave. The man offered to give me a ride to find someplace to sleep and recollect my belongings from a church I refuged to a couple of days back to escape unjust living conditions,” her tweet thread began and added, “He came disguised as a man of God and ended up picking me up from nearby Saxon Street.” She also explained, “I trusted the holy spirit to keep me safe.” She then said how the man offered to give her a ride back to a church where she had sought “refuge” because of “unjust living conditions.”
According to the Tallahassee Police Department, cops were searching for her and she was last seen on June 6. She had even given out the details of his appearance: “Mid 40’s lives in a gray painted duplex apartment-style house drives a white clean Silverado Chevrolet truck.” In a piece of shocking news, it was reported that she was found dead. The news started when a string of tweets started circulating on the Internet reporting the death of the 19-year-old protester with the hashtag #JusticeforToyin.

Justin Bieber wants to use his celebrity to speak up about racism.
In a passionate Instagram post, the singer acknowledged that he has used black culture as an inspiration for his work, and succeeded because of it. That’s why he now wants to become an advocate for racial tolerance, using his privileged role to speak up about the cause.
“I am inspired by black culture. I have benefited off of black culture,” the “Yummy” singer wrote on Saturday. “My style, how I sing, dance, perform and my fashion have all been influenced and inspired by black culture.”
He continued by sharing that since he has such a massive following, he hopes to use his fame to help be an asset to the anti-racism movement.
“I am committed to using my platform from this day forward to learn, to speak up about racial injustice and systemic oppression, and to identify ways to be part of a much-needed change,” Bieber wrote.
Bieber’s social media feeds have frequently mentioned several well-known cases that have prompted calls for justice in recent weeks. On Saturday, he dedicated a post to Breonna Taylor, the Kentucky woman who was shot and killed while she slept in her home back in March during a failed attempt by police to serve a “no-knock warrant.”

“Twilight” actor Gregory Tyree Boyce and his Nigerian girlfriend Natalie Adepoju died as a result of cocaine and fentanyl intoxication.

Nigerian reggae musician Majek Fashek has died at the age of 57.
The performer, popular for hits such as Send Down the Rain and So Long for Too Long, died in his sleep in New York, his manager Omenka Uzoma told the BBC.
Writing on Instagram, Mr Uzoma said it was “a time for us all to celebrate his achievements, and not mourn”.
The musician, whose real name was Majekodunmi Fasheke, also worked with stars like Jimmy Cliff, Tracy Chapman and Snoop Dogg.
“He’s done a lot for Nigeria and Africa,” his manager said.
Majek Fashek has been ill for some time but the cause of his death is not clear.

Popular Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz has called for a nationwide protest over the recent rape allegations and killing of innocent young girls in Nigeria.

As nationwide protests continue to spiral into uncontrolled riots in response to the death of George Floyd, Justin Timberlake’s political stance may have cost him fans and followers.
The multi-platinum singer announced on Saturday (May 30) he would be donating to a nonprofit organization designed to fight criminal injustice for the poor.

Faith Evans was reportedly arrested for domestic violence last week. According to TMZ, the police were called to the veteran singer’s Los Angeles home after she and her husband Stevie J got into a “heated” argument.

Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for coronavirus, a US federal prison union official has said.
The former Hollywood producer has been placed in isolation at Wende Correctional Facility, a maximum security prison east of Buffalo, New York.
He was moved from New York City’s Rikers Island jail where he is serving a 23-year sentence.
The president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Michael Powers, said he learned that Weinstein’s test came back positive on Sunday morning.
Several prison staff have since been quarantined, Mr Powers added.
A lawyer for Weinstein, Imran Ansari, said his legal team had not been notified of the coronavirus diagnosis.
“Given Mr Weinstein’s state of health, we are of course concerned, if this is the case, and we are vigilantly monitoring the situation,” Mr Ansari said.
Weinstein, 68, was convicted of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping former aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013 following a landmark triall earlier this year.
Prosecutors said he had committed a “lifetime of abuse towards others”.
His conviction was hailed as a victory for the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct by powerful men.
More than 100 women, including famous actresses, have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct stretching back decades.
He has denied the allegations, saying any sex was consensual.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority began proceedings to resolve a long clash with restaurateur and father of Lady Gaga Joe Germanotta over unpaid rent just before the courts closed due to coronavirus, Germanotta said.
Germanotta is the owner of the Art Bird & Whiskey Bar in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal. He has refused to pay more than $260,000 in rent and fees to his landlord, the MTA, because he says conditions are unclean and the presence of homeless people has increased to a level that he says has caused losses to his business. Now in the midst of a crisis and following a 14-day notice from the end of February to pay his rent, he says the MTA is moving to get the money he owes. “Today, mere hours before the courts are closing for an indefinite period due to the coronavirus crisis, and in the face of the city’s direction to close all bars and restaurants, the MTA began a nonpayment proceeding against ArtBird,” Germanotta told CNN. Other tenants have also stopped paying, Germanotta said, but he is the only one undergoing proceedings. He said the action is retaliatory for his calling attention to the conditions.
But the MTA says it is Germanotta who is using coronavirus to his advantage.
“It’s reprehensible that this restaurant operator, who stopped paying rent long ago, would try to use a public health crisis to justify his absurd position. We hope that by the time New York returns to normal the public will have a quality rent-paying tenant in place,” MTA’s communications director Tim Minton said in a statement.
No intention to pay
The MTA said it sent a letter to Germanotta at the end of February about his refusal to pay rent.
“We have served him with a 14-day demand notice that encourages him to pay his rent,” Minton said at the time. “We trust that he will meet his obligations.”
Germanotta said at the time that he had no intention to pay.
“They’re really not in the real estate business. They’re in the train business,” Germanotta said of the MTA.
He said that he expected large crowds when he opened his fried chicken establishment in 2018 in the well-known train station. But customers were scared off by conditions ranging from an alleged rodent problem to dirty restrooms, he said.
Germanotta claims to have laid off seven people as a result of the loss of business.

The toxicology examination aimed at determining the cause of death for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has been completed. The test, conducted in the United States, was confirmed by State counsel Oluwaseun Akinde during a session at the coroner’s court in the Ikorodu area of the state in November 2023.
Akinde stated that while the autopsy focusing on the external body of the deceased had been finalized, the toxicology test aimed to explore internal factors. Recently, an official from the Lagos State Government, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the test results had returned to Nigeria and had been forwarded to the police.
"The toxicology test has been concluded and handed over to the police. Originally, we anticipated a 10-week timeframe, but it was expedited. The laboratory initially designated for the analysis was damaged during the #EndSARS protests. Consequently, the sample had to be processed abroad. Now that it's back, it's up to the police to proceed with their investigation and potentially press charges. The responsibility lies with them," the official explained.
A source within the Lagos State Police Command, also speaking anonymously, confirmed the receipt of the toxicology report but noted that its technical language required interpretation by the pathologists who conducted the autopsy.
"The toxicology report has been received, but it's filled with medical terminology. We lack the expertise to interpret it accurately. It's currently with the pathologists who performed the autopsy, and once they provide a layman's interpretation, it will be communicated through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)," the source disclosed.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has named Tunde Onakoya, a National Chess Master, as the State Sports Ambassador following his remarkable achievement of setting a world record-breaking chess marathon campaign at Times Square in New York.
