March 22, 2023 APC’s Victory In Lagos Momentary, We’ll Seek Redress — LP Chairman

During a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, the Lagos State Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), Pastor Dayo Ekong, announced that the party is prepared to contest the results of Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections in court.

Ekong described the victory of the APC as fleeting and claimed that the elections failed all democratic criteria.

Ekong stated that the elections were plagued by massive disruptions and violence against the party's loyalists and agents. She insisted that the elections were not credible, fair, or free and expressed her confidence in the judiciary to address the situation.

Ekong revealed that the LP intends to seek redress and petition INEC, the police, and military regarding the brutal attacks on some of the party members.

She warned that if the violence and election irregularities are not addressed, it could set a dangerous precedent and undermine the democratic process.

Ekong implored Nigerians, particularly the youth who desired a better nation, not to lose hope. She clarified that LP would never provoke violence, particularly among the youths who it believed deserved a better future and should not engage in illegal activities.
