Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has confirmed that striker Antoine Griezmann will be allowed to leave the club at the end of the season.
Griezmann came close to joining Manchester United over the summer but opted against a move due to a transfer ban imposed on Atletico, with the 26 year old stating that he could not leave the club at a time when they were unable to replace him.
However that ban lifts in January, reopening the possibility of a move away, and Simeone says he will not stand in the way of the Frenchman if he wishes to leave the club.
The 47 year old said and I quote: ‘I know that he needs to grow. Of course Griezmann will be able to leave at some point, the same way [Diego] Costa and Arda Turan were allowed to leave.’ End of quote.
Greizmann has scored five La Liga goals this season from 12 games – adding to the 60 he scored for Atletico over the previous three seasons.
