The Nigerian Army says it will go ahead with its planned military operation in the South-east.
The army advised Nigerians to disregard the statement by the Abia State Governor OKEZIE IKPEAZU which gave the impression that it was withdrawing its troops from the exercise code-named “Operation Python Dance II”.
The Governor had said on Thursday that the army from Friday would commence a gradual withdrawal of troops from the streets of Abia.
However, in a statement issued in the early hours of today, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General SANI USMAN, said it is not true that the army are withdrawing the troops.
USMAN said the military exercise will commence as scheduled and would run till the end of the year.
