Illegal Arms Impounded In Tin Can Island By Nigerian Customs Service

Moving on, in what appears to be a recurring decimal for the third time running this year, operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service has again impounded 1,100 pump action rifles at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, retired Colonel HAMEED ALI who confirmed the seizure, said the seized weapons were carefully concealed in a 20 foot container and falsely declared as wash-hand basins.

Briefing journalists on the development, the customs boss disclosed that a customs officer suspected to have cut the seal of the container without following due process, as well as a clerk at the command, had been arrested in connection with the discovery.
